Let me remind you that up to this point, a variable aperture has only been found in samsung galaxy S9, and . Moreover, in Korean flagships, the physical aperture blades are responsible for this, which either narrow or open. How things are in the iPhone XS is still unknown. Compared to the "regular" gold, the new color is much more intense. Each color is applied to the case using a unique PVD coating method to achieve a glossy effect.

The experience of using the iPhone XS is no different from the iPhone X, of course, if you switch from one smartphone to another. The brand new iPhone XS is in the hand and no novelty is felt. And where would it come from if the design and even the dimensions of smartphones are identical. If you switch to the iPhone XS from earlier Apple smartphones, which are still made in the old design, then there will be a lot of emotions from the novelty. Unusual gestures will also surprise you, allowing you to control your smartphone without the Home button, and the display in the entire front surface, and the glass back surface.

Display

iPhone XS comes with a full 5.8-inch OLED Super Retina HD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The display resolution is 1125×2436 pixels (pixel density per inch is 463 ppi). The iPhone X has a similar figure. This means that developers do not have to update their applications specifically for the iPhone XS.

The iPhone XS screen covers 81.4% of the front surface of the smartphone case. Apple achieved this result by reducing the bezels around the display.

The display brightness of the iPhone XS is 625 cd/m², which is excellent for OLED displays. The image on the smartphone will be perfectly visible on the street on a bright sunny day. The screen supports Apple's proprietary True Tone technology, which automatically adjusts the display temperature depending on the ambient light. The contrast ratio of the iPhone XS display is 1,000,000:1.

Despite numerous rumors, support for 3D Touch in the smartphone has not disappeared. The iPhone XS recognizes how hard you press the display, just like previous models since the iPhone 6s. Recall that according to rumors, Apple intends to abandon 3D Touch technology in the future.

The iPhone XS display also supports HDR10 and DolbyVision. Support for the extended P3 color format has also not gone away - due to it, the iPhone XS display is so bright and saturated.

Sound

Because of this, the emergence of next-generation chips in Android smartphones will only occur in 2019.

A12 Bionic includes a six-core computing processor. The four cores of the chip are responsible for efficiency, the remaining two for performance. When the iPhone XS performs a complex task, such as running a "heavy" game or application, the performance cores are activated at full capacity. They are also assisted by energy efficient cores. Thanks to this, even complex tasks are completed instantly.

But if the most common everyday tasks are performed on the iPhone XS, then only energy-efficient cores work. Their power is enough to launch applications very quickly, move between them, etc. without a lot of energy. This system allows the iPhone XS to spend significantly less resources. Up to 50% smaller than iPhone X.

The system-on-chip A12 Bionic integrates a quad-core GPU, which was also developed by Apple. His key feature is to support lossless data compression technology. It opens up completely new possibilities for both users and developers.

The third important component of the A12 Bionic system-on-chip is the second-generation Neural Engine machine learning module. It is capable (and does it all the time) of executing five trillion instructions per second. This phenomenal indicator allows the A12 Bionic processor to self-learn much faster. For the user, all of this means that iOS 12 features that use machine learning data work better. For example, searching for pictures in the Photos app starts even before a person has entered a query.

What does the new A12 Bionic processor, made using a completely new technology, give the iPhone XS? Productive power! iPhone XS is the fastest smartphone in history. He took over this title from his predecessor iPhone X and immediately went ahead.

iPhone XS is up to 70% faster than iPhone X thanks to the new processor. The increase in productivity is manifested literally in everything. iPhone XS opens apps and games faster, completes complex tasks, encodes videos, and more. The difference in speed is visible to the naked eye. Notably, the iPhone X felt like a perfectly fast smartphone. However, Apple clearly proved that the iPhone can be even faster.

In synthetic tests, the iPhone XS easily outperformed the previous leader - the iPhone X. In the single-core test mode, the difference was not the biggest - 4835 points against 4320. The flagships of other companies gave way to the iPhone XS significantly.

The front surface of the iPhone XS is almost completely covered by a 5.8-inch OLED display with minimal bezels. The top frame, like the iPhone X, will be cut off on the sides. According to some leaks, the bezels around the iPhone XS display may be reduced, but barely noticeable. On the back of the iPhone XS, we will see the same vertical dual camera with flash.

The 6.5-inch iPhone XS will get an identical design - tempered glass panels, a surgical steel connecting frame, a bezel-less full-screen display with a “monobrow” and a dual vertical camera. However, the 6.5-inch model will surprise, quite obviously, with its size.

The 6.5-inch iPhone XS will be Apple's largest smartphone ever. At the same time, the model will not turn out to be a really huge “shovel”. By reducing the display bezels, Apple will be able to squeeze a huge 6.5-inch OLED display into a body with dimensions of a 5.5-inch iPhone 8 Plus. This means that the dimensions of the 6.5-inch iPhone XS will be approximately 158.4 × 78.1 × 7.5 mm (probably a little more).

The new iPhone XS will receive a design almost completely identical to the iPhone X - at most, some small details will change, which we will only learn about at the presentation. But what will Apple surprise in terms of design? The answer is - a new color.

Apple will release the 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch iPhone XS in a brand new gold color. For clarity, we have posted the official image of the new Apple smartphones, which accidentally leaked to the Web, once again. Apple has never painted any of its smartphones in this color before. The difference with the usual golden color, well known to everyone from previous iPhones, is visible to the naked eye.

In total, the iPhone XS will be released in three colors. The new gold color will be accompanied by "space gray" and silver.

The performance gain of the A12 chip compared to the A11 will be from 30 to 70%. In addition, the chip is 40% more energy efficient. This means that the iPhone XS will be able to work longer without the need for recharging.

iPhone XS vs. iPhone 9

Back in June 2018, the test results of the iPhone XS were “lit up” on the official website of the Geekbench benchmark. Thanks to this, it became known that one of the iPhone XS prototypes scored 4673 points in single-core and 10912 points in multi-core modes. These figures are 10-20% higher than the iPhone X.

The amount of RAM 5.8- and 6.5-inch iPhone XS will be 4 GB. Thus, the new Apple smartphones will be the first in the line with such a large amount of RAM. Apple, as you know, does not stuff the iPhone with RAM just "to have it." Certainly, the new iPhone XS needed more RAM to successfully perform completely new functions. Experts believe that most of these features will somehow be related to smartphone cameras.

Built-in memory

Apple will release both iPhone XS models with 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB of storage. By doing so, the company will double the maximum amount of storage compared to the iPhone X. No iPhone has ever been equipped with such a large storage.

Battery and operating time

The 5.8-inch iPhone XS will feature lithium-ion battery capacity 2700-2800 mAh. The 6.5-inch version of the iPhone XS will receive a battery with an increased capacity of 3300-3400 mAh. In both cases, the battery will consist of two cells and is made in the shape of the letter L. Apple first used this solution in the iPhone X.

For comparison, the battery capacity of the iPhone X is 2716 mAh. As you can see, the latest 5.8-inch iPhone XS won't see much of a boost in battery capacity. The 6.5-inch iPhone XS will have a significantly increased battery capacity.

However, the battery life of both smartphones will be increased. First of all, this will be affected by the new energy-efficient A12 processor.

Fast and wireless charging

Support for fast and wireless charging technologies appeared in the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. Both technologies will be improved in the new iPhone XS. First, Apple will equip the new smartphones with a powerful charging adapter that supports fast charging. Power charger will be 18 watts. This adapter allows you to charge your iPhone XS almost twice as fast as a standard 5W charger.

Note that the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X do not come with a charger that supports fast charging. In order to use the function, smartphone owners need to purchase a special adapter separately.
