Review of LG X Power K220DS: a smartphone with an extra battery. LG X-series

In September 2016, LG X Power K220DS, one of the smartphones of the X line, went on sale. This series belongs to the middle price range, all of its models are distinguished by certain characteristics and bear the appropriate names: X Style, X Cam, X View. The highlight of the LG X Power was its capacious battery, which is usually not typical of LG devices, but thanks to the low screen resolution and the average processor in a smartphone great time battery life. At the time of writing the review, the device costs about $170.

In the smartphone, all components are selected in such a way as to ensure a long battery life.

Design, body materials, dimensions and weight

Externally, the X Power is similar to the X Style, but it is larger and thicker. The whole body is made of fairly high quality plastic. The device is assembled well without noticeable backlash. As for the design, some will find it too simple, but our view is quite decent. In any case, it differs from the products of Chinese manufacturers in its external design and the location of the main camera and speaker.

On the front panel, above the screen, a speaker, a front camera and an event indicator were placed. The LG logo is visible at the bottom. On the top edge is an additional microphone.

On the bottom edge there is a 3.5 mm audio jack, micro USB and the main microphone.
On the left, we installed the volume control button and the SIM card slot.
On the right is only the on / off button.

On the back panel in the upper left corner is the main camera, under which there is an LED flash. In the lower left corner is the speaker. In the very center of the back panel, the LG logo flaunts again.

Physical dimensions of the device: height 148.9 mm, width 74.9 and thickness 7.9 mm. The screen-to-body ratio is 69.4%. The device weighs only 139 grams. Colors available: white, gold and indigo.

CPU

The South Korean giant has released several modifications of the device, which differ in processors, but only the LG X Power K220 DS model is represented on our market. It has a chipset from the Chinese manufacturer MediaTek MT6735. The chip consists of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.3GHz and a dual-core Mali-T720 graphics controller. The 64-bit chipset is manufactured using a 28 nm manufacturing process, which is the thickest of the modern manufacturing processes used in mobile processors. However, it was released two years ago - in January 2015.

Popular benchmark tests rated the performance of the device as follows: AnTuTu scored 31874 points, while GeekBench 3 scored 531 points in the single-core performance test and 1586 points in the multi-core performance test. On a smartphone, games of various genres are easily launched. The most productive games will not pull at maximum settings, but on average the picture will be acceptable quality and without big lags that would hinder the game.

Memory

LG X Power has 2 GB of LPDDR3 RAM. Own memory of 16 GB, which is not bad. Of these, a little more than 10 GB is available to the user. The internal memory is expandable via microSD memory cards up to 32 GB, but it can only be installed instead of a second SIM card.

Display

The display of the smartphone has a diagonal of 5.3 inches. It has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a pixel density of 277 ppi. Up to 10 touches are supported simultaneously. The top of the display is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The IPS screen is made using In-Cell Touch technology. Thanks to this technology, the display is highly responsive to touch and is thinner.

In sunny weather, it will not be difficult to see what is written on the screen. The brightness scale is quite wide and there is an automatic brightness control. However, the owners blame the unsmooth operation of automatic adjustment. Unfortunately, the color temperature cannot be adjusted. Overall display good quality and wide viewing angles.

autonomy

The smartphone package includes instructions, a warranty card, a special needle for installing or removing SIM cards, a microUSB to USB cable, and a network adapter with a quick charge inscription. Standard set, nothing special.

As noted above, the main pride of LG X Power is good time offline work. This was achieved thanks to a capacious 4100 mAh non-removable battery, a small screen resolution, an average processor and a good shell without unnecessary bells and whistles. A fairly capacious battery thanks to support for fast charging charges a little more than two hours.

The battery can last two days. This is a good result, considering that most smartphones do not survive until the end of the day. Another confirmation of good battery life is that watching video from a memory card at maximum brightness lasts about 12 hours.

Camera

The cameras of the device under consideration are average, the photo quality is more or less good with sufficient lighting, with a lack of it, a lot of noise appears in the pictures. The main camera has a resolution of 13 MP and f / 2.2 aperture. It can shoot videos in Full HD. The pixel size of the camera is 1.12 microns. Here are some shots on the main camera:

When shooting video, it is noticeable that autofocus does not have time to quickly focus on objects when the camera moves. In the application "Camera" geotags are added, there is a panorama, a timer, a voice control function.

The front camera has a resolution of 5 MP and f/2.4 aperture. It also shoots videos in Full HD resolution. Instead of a flash when taking a selfie, the smartphone turns the screen white, thereby illuminating the face.

Connection

The smartphone is connected to the outside world using Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and micro USB 2.0. Wireless connectivity comes with Wi-Fi Direct and hotspot support, meaning the X Power is able to connect to other devices via Wi-Fi without the need for routers.

We also note support for USB On-The-Go, which means that the smartphone can act as a charger for other devices and you can connect flash drives to it if you have the appropriate cord.

The device also plays FM radio, has an accelerometer, proximity sensor and compass. For orientation on the ground there is A-GPS. Two nano-size SIM cards are supported, they work in 2G, 3G and 4G networks.

Sound

X Power is great for making calls. You hear the subscriber well, and he hears you well on the other end of the wire. The speaker volume is enough. As for the main speaker, it is of average quality. The sound volume is not bad in principle, but the playback quality is not the best. Another disadvantage is that if the smartphone is placed on the table with the display up, then the audibility of the melody drops significantly. However, the sound quality in headphones is good.

Operating system

The X Power runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system, on top of which is the LG user interface. The proprietary shell is quite simple and looks more like pure Android. There are only a couple of pre-installed applications from the manufacturer, and they are mainly related to creating backups and managing battery consumption. Alas, there is not even a Gallery and Music, which many users liked. They also removed the menu of all applications, and now the programs are scattered across desktops and folders.

The device is unlocked with a double tap. Other added bonuses include the ability to customize the size and appearance of the icons. Also in the user interface of the South Korean giant, a multi-window mode is implemented. From the home screen, open an app, adjust its size and position on the screen, and then open another app.

Individual characteristics

The navigation keys in X Power are located on the displays themselves and are fully customizable: just find the "Display" item in the settings, and then select "Touch button combination". You can set five keys at the same time, select their purpose and order. The smartphone has an event indicator that lights up when there are unread notifications. For someone it will important fact. The multi-window mode can also be attributed to the features. And of course, autonomy is the main difference between a smartphone.

Pros and cons of LG X Power

  • good battery life;
  • an operating system that allows you to fully customize your smartphone for yourself;
  • good display;
  • unique design (if you do not take into account X style);
  • high-quality music playback in headphones.
  • hybrid slot for SIM-cards;
  • there is a lot of noise in photographs in low light;
  • Automatic brightness control does not work correctly.

Alternatives

Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime for a similar price has a battery of the same capacity. But in its favor speak a larger screen resolution (Full HD) and almost twice the performance (in the AnTuTu test it scores about 62 thousand points). For some, a fingerprint scanner can play a role. But it has a 5-inch display and real battery life is less.

The Asus Zenfone 3 Max costs just over $190 and also packs a massive 4,130mAh battery. Battery life is comparable to X Power. Its advantages include a metal case, a fingerprint scanner and slightly better performance. In the AnTuTu test, he managed to score a little more than 40 thousand points.

Our review of the LG X Power

LG X Power is an excellent device for those who do not like to constantly monitor the charge level of their smartphone. With a weight of only 139 grams, the device will work on a single charge for two days. We also add here a simple but attractive design, an operating system with many settings, a good display and a processor. On the one hand, the display resolution is low, but on the other hand, this allows the not very productive chip to cope with all everyday tasks. In general, the reviewed model is a fairly balanced middling that deserves the attention of consumers.

Fans of "long-playing" smartphones will be pleased with the endurance of this device, but in other areas they will have to endure sometimes even severe shortcomings. While the tactile feel of the smartphone is still okay, the display is quite low-res and too dim. In addition, the camera does its job rather poorly, and we miss the fingerprint scanner in the list of equipment, the presence of which for a device from the price range of about 250 euros has long been, in fact, a good form.

LG X Power 2 test:
the accumulator is a star (the only one)

It's all about battery life here: the LG X Power 2 uses a 4,500 mAh battery, which proved to be an impressive source of power in our tests. According to our "online" usage scenario, we are testing how long the smartphone can be used to surf the web in LTE networks with the display adjusted to medium brightness, constantly loading sites and playing videos. Here, the LG X Power 2 lasted a splendid 15 hours and 45 minutes, which is 2 hours longer than the device next in this category. In this case, we are talking about the predecessor.

Despite the fact that the battery of the LG X Power 2 is very large, the 5.5-inch smartphone still feels good in the hand.

The good devices in our respective rankings for the most part show 9 to 11 hour battery life. The Galaxy S8, for example, hits the mark just under 10 hours. The process of replenishing the energy reserves of the LG X Power 2 battery, thanks to the support for the fast charging function, lasts 2 hours and 25 minutes, that is, in relation to the endurance of the battery, it is not too long.

Disappointing display

As good as the battery, the display is just as bad. It's the dimmest screen we've tested in quite some time. Because of it, LG X Power 2 received the second rating from the end of our rating in the corresponding test discipline. With a 5.5-inch diagonal, the display turns out to be really large and, therefore, it is oriented towards fans of multimedia content or large images - but at the same time, unfortunately, it has a brightness of only 273 cd / m2 and it does not deliver any outdoor viewing. pleasure.

LG X Power 2 screen is too dim and not very clear

In addition, a simple HD resolution of 720x1280 pixels is too small for this screen size. Because of this, the letters around the edges look shabby, and this is noticeable. Color reproduction, on the contrary, is quite normal, although it cannot boast the magnificence of first-class IPS or AMOLED panels.

Photo quality in low light is very poor

The camera can't boast of any brilliant achievements either: especially in poor lighting conditions, the blur comes into play so roughly that it looks like shooting through a matte filter. Fine details in our test shot, such as strands of hair and small lines of text, become unrecognizable. Pictures taken in daylight, in principle, are still suitable for “quick shooting”, but upon closer examination, they also reveal some shortcomings.

In dim lighting, the pictures noticeably lack detail.

When enlarged to full resolution, the picture is overshadowed by a mixture of insufficient detail, as well as the effects of the sharpness and blur filter. While the fonts in our template shot are still legible, the hair on the fake head shows noise combined with blurry imagery. Color reproduction, on the contrary, in both lighting conditions is quite neutral and pleasing to the eye. Summing up, we can evaluate the camera according to the school system "C grade".

Solid performance and control

Despite the majestic size of the battery, outwardly LG X Power 2 does not look like something huge. In essence, it is about the same as many other 5.5-inch smartphones, and therefore lies quite well in the hand. And yet, because of the size of the display, the user will have to make some compromises. The use of slightly curved glass, which gives an elegant look even to such inexpensive smartphones as Nokia 3, the manufacturer refuses as readily as the use of premium materials in the manufacture of the back cover: X Power 2 is made of plastic. Fingerprints on the back are only visible upon close inspection, and despite the smooth frame, the case is quite grippy.

The smartphone is made of plastic - fingerprints are almost invisible

The performance of the 8-core processor from Mediatek, which has a clock frequency of up to 1.5 GHz, also gives a feeling of solidity. The system runs smoothly for the most part, stuttering only during app updates. In addition, some twitches can be observed during web surfing. Nevertheless, the speed of user interface response to user commands for this price segment is in order.

No fingerprint scanner

In the list of equipment, we miss, first of all, a fingerprint scanner, which can currently be found on most new smartphones costing around 250 euros. With it, devices are securely protected and, despite this, can be unlocked comfortably and quickly.

The thickness of the body of LG X Power 2 for its size is normal

With the help of LTE technologies, data from the network can be downloaded at speeds up to 300 Mbps, but there is no Dual-SIM function here. Of the built-in memory, a meager 9 GB of free space remains at the disposal of users, but they can be expanded using a Micro-SD card. Forget about things like wireless charging, water damage protection, ac WLAN, and a replaceable battery.

Android 7 with legacy protection state

The LG X Power 2 runs Android 7 operating system with a user interface adapted by the manufacturer. However, looking at the settings menu is immediately sobering, since the security patch here is dated April 1, 2017 - and we are already testing in September 2017. This means that although the volume functionality operating system Android is relevant here, but the device has vulnerabilities that LG has not yet closed. But Google releases patches monthly.

The fact that absolutely new smartphone already immediately after the sale will not be regularly and, above all, timely updated, annoying and entails security risks.

A practical addition to the user interface is the ability to optionally drag the notification center call button to the illuminated software bar at the bottom of the screen. Those who are familiar with other Android user interfaces will first have to get used to the fact that LG, like Apple, places all applications on the desktop without a separate application menu.

LG X Power 2 test results

Alternative: Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) A320F

A good alternative, which also has very good battery performance ratings, and even in the same price category, is.

It offers its users a 4.7-inch display and nearly 13-hour battery life.

It also performed better overall than the LG X Power 2 during our testing, and the feature list includes a fingerprint scanner.

Currently, you can find this smartphone for about 17,000 rubles.

Smartphones of LG Corporation we know from the G series. These are the flagships of the company, which have proven themselves well. Today we have in our review a representative of the X line, which includes several models: Cam, Style and Power. As part of this line, Cam received a dual camera, Style - a thin body and a smaller diagonal, and Power - an enlarged battery. That's the last thing we'll talk about today.

LG X Power is a medium budget smartphone with extended runtime. Traditionally, let's go through the characteristics briefly:

Display IPS, 16 million colors, capacitive
Display Diagonal 5.3 inches
Display resolution 1280x720
Operating system Android 6.0 (Marshmallow)
CPU Mediatek MT6735
video accelerator Mali-T720

ROM size 16 GB
Memory card slot Yes, up to 256 GB, combined with a second SIM slot

Number of SIM cards 2 nanoSIM
Interfaces GPS (A-GPS, GLONASS), Bluetooth v4.2 LE, microUSB, 3.5 mm jack, FM radio
The fingerprint scanner Not
fast charging Yes (full charge in 1 hour 50 minutes)
Battery 4100 mAh, non-removable
The weight 139 g
Dimensions 149 x 75 x 7.9g
Colors Golden, white, indigo

As you can see, nothing special, except for a capacious battery and low weight, at first glance, is not visible. Well, let's see how it works.

Box and equipment

The device comes in a fairly standard box with the name of the smartphone on top. Inside, the already familiar standard equipment for this category of smartphones: the smartphone itself, cable, charger, clip-extractor and manual.

Frame

The body of the smartphone is made of aluminum. This is a one-piece monoblock without any backlash and squeaks. Holds perfectly in the hand, no complaints.

Screen

The screen of the device does not strike the imagination - the resolution is only 1280x720 pixels, which is not enough for a smartphone with a diagonal of 5.3 inches. It is made using IPS technology and covered protective screen Gorilla Glass third generation. The colors are bright and saturated.

Operating system

The smartphone runs Android 6.0 operating system. The Russian language is, of course, supported. Lags and delays in the animation were not noticed.

Processor and Memory

The device has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of permanent memory. If the RAM is enough to run most applications, then the permanent memory is still not enough. A microSD card will help solve the problem, the slot for which is prudently installed in a smartphone, but in this case you lose the opportunity to put a second SIM card. In addition, you can connect an external flash drive thanks to USB OTG.

The processor installed is far from the most powerful, frankly speaking, a little outdated - MTK6735. Yes, it will be enough for most applications (for example, Youtube app opens and plays videos without problems), but you can forget about resource-intensive games. The results of the AnTuTu test confirm this.

Interfaces

The smartphone has the basic necessary interfaces: Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Wi-Fi, unfortunately, is only supported in the 2.4 GHz band. There is also an FM radio, which will please those who like to listen to their favorite FM station.

Unfortunately, charging and connecting to a computer takes place using the microUSB connector. I would like the guys from LG to take an example from their Chinese comrades and make a Type-C connector even on such inexpensive models. It is unlikely to be expensive in production, but in everyday use it is much more convenient.

Battery

The capacity of the battery gave this smartphone the name Power. It is an impressive 4100 mAh. With an average use of a smartphone, such a battery will last for 2 days. Fast battery charging is also announced: a full charge cycle will take less than 2 hours, according to the company.

Communication and sound

There are no complaints about the sound, the external and conversational speakers are loud, the sound is clear. The sound in the headphones is also on the level.

The connection quality is decent. The smartphone supports LTE bands 7 and 20, which are the main ones in the Russian Federation. There is no support for the 38 band. This is rather strange, given that LG in Russia is one of the key players in the smartphone market and is trying to supply the most adapted devices for our market as much as possible. In general, this is not critical, but we leave a remark.

Camera

The smartphone, like most brothers, is equipped with one front and one rear camera with LED flash.

The built-in camera app opens in full screen mode. There is a small set of settings, including filters. I liked the feature with the front camera: when you point at the face and freeze for a couple of seconds, the camera takes pictures by itself.

You can judge the quality of the camera from the photos below:

With sufficient lighting, the smartphone shoots well for its level, however, pronounced noises appear in twilight and darkness. The front camera works at 4 minus.

Results

The LG smartphone turned out to be quite a compromise. Rather outdated processor and low-resolution screen is compensated by a large battery, light weight, durable housing and the ability to work with two SIM-cards. There are also interesting software solutions, such as automatically detecting the face and photographing the front camera. For the money they ask for it, it is not the strongest competitor to uncertified devices from Chinese companies (Xiaomi, Meizu and others) - certification of devices in the Russian Federation is quite expensive. However, if you prefer only goods with the PCT mark and branded support and warranty throughout Russia, then the smartphone will become good choice. In addition, there is a small bonus from LG - 100 GB of Google Drive for 2 years.

If you want to buy a cheap smartphone with a big battery, the company has an offer for you. Model LG X Power is a device in a plastic case with a simple design and a battery capacity of 4100 mAh. The LG X Power has a 5.3-inch screen, but is more similar in size to 5.5-inch smartphones due to the thick bezels around the edges of the screen.

Buying a smartphone is a long-term investment, so the battery isn't the only factor in choosing one. An important question needs to be answered: Is the LG X Power a good phone overall? Is it worth buying, or does the low price come with too many downsides? The answer will be given below.

LG X power design

With a simple plastic case appearance The LG X Power doesn't impress or make it stand out from other models. However, the build quality is at a decent level.

Plastic cases were common in Android smartphones two or three years ago, so the LG X Power looks like an antique - but not a valuable antique, with no metal or glass elements. This is a cheap smartphone and it looks cheap. This does not make it fragile, nothing staggers or creaks in the case.

Despite the impressive battery, the device is quite thin - 7.9 mm, and the weight is 139 g. The back side is embossed, which makes it more convenient to hold the smartphone in your hands. The screen narrows slightly at the top and bottom, there are no sharp corners, which improves the ergonomics of the device.

The fingerprint sensor is not presented here, so it will not be possible to protect personal data stored on the device with it. The case is not water resistant.

Screen

The 5.3-inch LCD screen has a bluish tint and lacks sharpness, but bigger bezels and glare, which are hard to deal with outdoors, are a big problem. The screen resolution is 720 x 1280 pixels. This gives it a pixel density of 277 ppi, so individual pixels can be seen, especially when reading text. For a budget phone, this is to be expected.

The colors are far from ideal: white has a bluish tint, the rest are also not very accurate. The color range is limited, the tones are muted.

There is a light sensor that automatically changes the brightness of the screen. Most expensive smartphones have this feature, but it is not always found in budget devices. There is also a notification LED.

Interface and functionality LG X Power

The handset uses the LG UX 5.0 interface, which offers its own icon style, colors and overall feel of the operating system. Immediately striking is the lack of a list of applications. Like Apple iOS and many Android skins, the user interface simply puts application icons on the home screen.

The on-screen keyboard is not the best here, so typing is slower than usual and more errors are made. Haptic feedback is turned off by default, and when turned on, it turns out to be fuzzy and merges together after pressing each button.

Plus, it supports Knock On and Knock Code, so you can use taps instead of a pin code, or double tap to wake up and lock the device.

Processor, memory and performance X Power

LG X Power is available in two variants. The international version is made on a MediaTek MT6735 processor with 2 GB of memory. This is a rather old chip, familiar to Chinese Android smartphones. entry level. The US version uses Snapdragon 210 and 1.5 GB of memory. The review considers the first option. The 4-core chip uses Cortex A53 cores with a frequency of 1.3 GHz.

The low screen resolution and LG's optimizations allow the phone to handle everyday tasks like calls, browsing and e-mail well. Slowdowns, if they occur, are rare and minor.

Heavier tasks noticeably slow down the device, as shown by the benchmark results. The X Power scores low on GeekBench, so the CPU isn't the fastest, and when it comes to gaming and graphics, it lags even further, with just 4.7 fps on the GFX Manhattan test.

Another reason for concern is the limited amount of flash memory, only 7 GB. There is a slot for microSD memory cards, so this value can be increased.

Internet and communication

Even with small price LG X Power supports the 4G LTE communication standard. The international version supports LTE bands 3, 7 and 20. Internet access is carried out through the pre-installed Chrome browser, optimized for the touch screen. Other communication standards are Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 and NFC.

Camera LG X Power

The LG X Power uses an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP front camera. The camera app is excellent: it launches quickly and has convenient separate buttons for photos and videos. This allows you not to look for a switch between modes and start shooting faster.

There are a number of effects applied to images, you can take panoramic shots, but there is no support for HDR.

Photo quality

Photos look good - when you get the focus right. Focusing is slow, some photos are blurry when other smartphones produce a clear picture.

Otherwise, by the standards of a budget smartphone, there are no problems with photos: there is not enough dynamism, but colors are well transmitted, exposure and sharpness are good.

The flash changes colors to colder ones with a greenish tint, which doesn't look too good. In complete darkness, this is better than nothing, but flash is best avoided as much as possible.

Photos from the front camera turned out to be excellent, with good detail and color reproduction.

Video quality

Support for recording video in 4K format from LG X Power is not expected. At 1080p resolution, recording is done at 30 fps with a bit rate of about 17 Mbps.

Even at 1080p, the video isn't good: it shakes because there's no stabilization. Clarity isn't as good as you'd expect from 1080p, and I couldn't get the phone to use autofocus all the time.

Audio

At the bottom of the back is a single small speaker. If you put the smartphone on a table or other surface with the back cover down, the sound is distorted, but even without this it is not very good: the volume is sufficient, but there is not enough clarity and depth.

Call quality

These days, smartphones have almost no problems with calls, but the LG X Power managed to be an exception. The sound quality in the speaker during a call is terrible: too quiet and voices are distorted, so it is often difficult to understand the interlocutor.

On the other side of the line, the interlocutor hears the speaker well, but not perfectly: there are problems with clarity.

Offline work

A 4100 mAh battery, not the most powerful chip and low screen resolution allow the smartphone to work between charges for a very long time. LG promises two days, and with rare use, the smartphone can last all three.

In the test of typical use of the device, LG X Power showed the best result among all participants in this test of all time. It worked for 15 hours and 18 minutes, almost twice as long as (7 hours 15 minutes) and (8 hours 15 minutes).

The 2.0 technology charger is supported, which speeds up the recharging process, which is important given the battery of such a large capacity. A conventional charger will take a long time to charge from 0 to 100%.

Conclusion

The device has a number of strengths: battery life is the main one among them. The quality of calls is poor, there is not enough flash memory, but in everyday use the device does not cause problems, and the camera gives nice photos, if you manage autofocus.

The smartphone belongs to the category of inexpensive, but there are models with discounts, close in price and better. Despite this, those who want to get the maximum autonomy can opt for LG.

In February 2016, LG Electronics introduced new models of mid-range smartphones - LG X Cam and LG X View. At the presentation, the president of the company's mobile division, Yuno Cho, expressed the opinion that every smartphone owner has a favorite feature, which means that there is a need for devices that can perform a well-defined, most necessary task in a particular case. At the same time, it makes no sense to overpay for other functions that the user does not need.

The opinion was transformed into a concept, and two models into a line of new smartphones, where each is characterized by its own “superpower”: LG X Cam has two main cameras, LG X View has two screens, LG X Style is thin and stylish, and LG X Power, Based on the name, it comes with a reinforced battery.

Appearance, design

A pre-production sample of the model got to the test site LG Xpower– without packaging, in a set only with charger with USB output.

The color is white (there is also gold and indigo (dark blue)), monoblock form factor.

The body of the smartphone is non-separable, at first glance it is made of plastic, although the back face resembles fiberglass in texture and tactile sensations. In any case, there is no backlash of parts, and there is practically no creak during torsional deformation - a good result for a device with declared dimensions of 148.9x74.9x7.9 mm.

The weight of the smartphone in this case is only 139 g. Analyzing the values of overall dimensions and weight, one can judge the desire of the manufacturer to fall within certain minimum limits. It should be noted that such a solution is only welcome, since often models with a reinforced battery are just thick “bricks” without a hint of at least some kind of ergonomics.

The body of the LG XPower is thin, the corners and edges are rounded. The decoration is unobtrusive, calm. Black screen with buffer zones, white edging around the perimeter and two parallel chrome strips on the side faces.

The screen size of the smartphone is 117x66 mm, and the size of the protective glass is 139x71 mm. Above, on the border of the glass, there is an oblong earpiece, covered with a plastic mesh. On the left, a little lower, there is an LED indicator, a front camera lens, light and proximity sensors. Below, under the screen, is the company logo. Traditional touch buttons Menu, Home, Back not here - they are on-screen.

On the reverse side, in the upper left corner, there is a main camera lens with an LED flash, and in the lower left corner there is a multimedia speaker (four square holes are also covered with a mesh).

There is an adjustment button on the left side. volume and a slot for installing SIM cards and a memory card (you can install either two nano SIM cards, or a SIM card and a micro SD card), on the right is the power button / blocking.

On the bottom side there is a micro USB port, a 3.5 mm jack for connecting a headset, a hole for a spoken microphone. Another noise canceling microphone is located on the upper edge.

Hardware platform, performance

Alphanumeric model name LG- K200 D.S.. For the middle class, the smartphone has quite attractive technical characteristics:

5.3" screen with a resolution of 1280x720;

Mediatek MT6735 64-bit processor (4 cores 1.3 GHz, Mali-T720 video chip);

RAM 2 GB;

Built-in memory 16 GB;

Main camera 13 MP, front camera 5 MP;

4100 mAh battery;

Bluetooth 4.2, WLAN 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, LTE support, USB 2.0;

Hence the corresponding performance result in all types of tests.

In addition, the smartphone handles a number of virtual reality applications.

There were also no comments on the functioning of the interface, the launch and operation of applications - smoothly and correctly, even though it is a pre-production sample.

Use, functionality of the software

As always, the smartphone was used in typical tasks for about a week. Conclusions on key points got the following.

The side faces of the smartphone are glossy, so the device can slide a little in the hand. Contributes to this and its small thickness. On the other hand, the world is gradually getting used to large screens and getting used to holding such devices in their hands, so that the voiced claims will soon be leveled. It is convenient to carry a smartphone in your pocket (thin).

Fingerprints do not remain on the case, but are clearly visible on the display. The basic control operations are not satisfactory, but still, subjectively, I like it more when the buttons volume control and enable/disable located on one side - less unintentional pressing.

As noted above, the main control buttons are on-screen. By default from left to right: Back, Home, Menu, SelectSIMcards. Why "by default" - the location and composition of the buttons can be changed. Among other things, almost every button works in two modes: short press Home performs the function of the same name, long - launches a Google search, short press Menu starts windowed mode, long press opens the menu, short press ChoiceSIMcards performs a shift, long - opens the settings.

The display, alas, is characterized by subjective sensations. Applied IPS matrix with a resolution of 278 ppi. There is an automatic brightness control, and the margin for adjustment is large. Viewing angles are good, especially horizontally. Color reproduction is normal. Touch input ten-dot.

I was pleased with the quality of communication provided by the device. The voice of the interlocutor is sonorous, strong, as if nearby, and according to polls, this feeling is two-sided. The multimedia speaker also does not lag behind - the sound is clear and moderately loud.

You don’t expect a dirty trick from cameras - megapixel numbers bribe. So it is, in the format “filmed on a smartphone” there are no complaints.

The maximum image resolutions (16:10) are 4160x2336 for the main camera and 2560x1440 for the front camera. Video recording is carried out with a resolution of 1080p in mp4 format.

The only thing is that the camera settings are somehow not enough:

main camera;

Front-camera.

The smartphone has many settings for each SIM cards separately, and for their joint work. You can associate each contact to a specific SIM card and make calls without hesitation in the future.

Finally, the “superpower” is a rechargeable battery with a capacity of more than 4000 mA. It is clear that each result will be different, but nonetheless. In the "only calls" mode, the smartphone lasted 3.5 days. In active mode (8 hours of video, surfing the Internet), 60% of the charge was enough for 11 hours. The battery is charged from a standard charger in just 1.5 hours.
