Today, in the days of atomic clocks, it may seem unnecessary to return to these problems and try to construct primitive lessons. However, there were three students who were able to find lessons that could have taken a long time.

The gentlemen worked independently, so some of the ideas were repeated. Here are just the types of built-in clocks. Two half liter plastic drink bottles, glue and a nail are enough to build this type of clock. Place the lids on both plastic bottles together. Then, in the fixtures connected in this way, we make a hole. Place one of the bottles on the "middle" one, which will measure the time, close the bottle with the connected caps, on which we screw the second bottle.

Now you just need to rotate the bottles, calibrate and make a clock. With the use of sand, watches built this way are flawless. If you want to use water as a time meter, you need to make a small hole in the bottom bottle to prevent overpressure in the bottom bottle and thus stop the flow of water. Another, more practical way to turn the clock after the water drains into the bottom bottle is to continue the procedure to change the connected closures.

In this case, we will make two holes in them and glue straw to each of them, but each on the opposite side. Another possible water clock design is even simpler: in a large plastic bottle, we make a hole in the bottom of the bottle and fill the bottle with water. The water from the bottle will run out and the height of the bottle will drop. To calibrate the bottle, insert a strip of paper to record time data, i.e. how long the level drops to a predetermined height.

An interesting idea is just an addition to the previous case: we put a bottle of water on the stand we are standing on. A glass can be made from a plastic bottle, cut off the tapered part at the neck and bottom, then distribute the bottle in the longitudinal direction. If we put both halves together, we get a fairly long camber. We leave the water flowing out of the water bottle and place the timeline on the sloping chute. Again, we define time based on distance - this time, but using the distance from the water flow.

It must be understood that in the last two cases the time scale is uneven. Using a candle, a clock can be made very simply. We need a candle. We light a candle and measure how long the candle burns, for example, in one minute. This entire candle can then be calibrated using that distance. The disadvantage is that the watches built in this way are disposable.

Another way to measure time is to determine it according to sunlight, which is thrown, for example, by a stick stuck in the ground. This method can also be converted to laboratory conditions, but there are a number of problems. Most of them are related to the apparent movement of the Sun in the sky. At home, we can make a simple sundial using a wooden board, to which we drill a hole to place a knitting needle. Now it is enough to place the clock in a place where most of the sunlight shines, and, for example, every hour you notice the shadow of the needle.
