Circular saw for the home. Reliable and inexpensive circular saw

A huge range of circular saws baffles the home craftsman. Let's try to simplify the task of choosing the right tool. We have to find the optimal combination of power, weight, features and price. It is best to “dance from the stove”, i.e. start from the tasks, namely, from the greatest thickness of the material being cut. From here select main characteristic- the maximum cutting depth, which must exceed the thickness of the workpiece (or half the thickness) by at least a few mm.

Main areas of application:

  • Finishing and carpentry work: cutting sheet materials (laminate, chipboard, OSB, plywood) and thin boards (platbands, lining, block house, parquet).
  • Carpentry construction work: cross and longitudinal sawing of boards and timber up to 100 mm.
  • Heavy work (building a house from a bar, logging): transverse and longitudinal sawing of a bar and a log with a thickness of 100 - 200 mm

In our review, we will first pay attention to the first and third points.

Best Lightweight Circular Saw for Thin Material

Among the few good power saws weighing up to 2.5 kg at a moderate price, there is little competition. Noteworthy are Bosch PKS 40 (3500 rubles), RYOBI RWSL1801M (3200 rubles) and Skil 5740 CA (2200 rubles). Despite the fact that Skil is considered the creator of this class of tools, they are now clearly inferior to the "big brother" Bosch. RYOBI looks good, but the owner of this brand, TIC (Hong Kong), has not yet established a proper service in Russia.

2nd place in the ranking - Rebir IE-5107 G2 - a good high-speed saw that turns into a machine

According to the manufacturer, the IE-5107G2 is designed for sawing wood, chipboard, cement-bonded particle boards, phosphogypsum and gas-filled concrete. Omnivorousness is ensured by the highest engine power among competitors. The weight is also the largest, which creates some inconvenience in work. But a special device easily turns a hand saw into a small-sized sawing machine, which made it possible to put it above Makita with an equal number of points.
Benefits reviews look something like this:

  • "reliable, powerful tool, spare parts everywhere, simple design."

The reliability lost during the transition to Chinese components began to be criticized:

  • “under heavy loads, the gear is destroyed and the anchor burns out (destroyed in the area of the brushes)”
  • “For seven years it was repaired three times. Replacing the armature 2 times, replacing gears and bearings.

3rd place in the rating - Makita 5704R - quality and ease of use

Makita lost to competitors in terms of power and disk rotation speed, but in terms of ease of use it loses only to the leader, and even then not much. If more power is not required, then the difference with Bosch in 1000 rubles can be a serious argument in its favor. Moreover, it has less noise and vibration than other models presented.
If you suddenly have to disassemble the saw, you can be sure of the quality assembly and the presence of good ball bearings. Makita 5704R is also not deprived of positive reviews:

  • “I have a 5704R. Happy as an elephant. The saw cut is enough to open a two-inch board. During the construction, I got drunk, both along and across. ”
  • “And I have a 5704RK. Satisfied even more than an elephant. Cutting a board 50 is easy ... Almost does not heat up. It cuts self-tapping screws in a tree - it doesn’t even sneeze, only the disk ends quickly - the carbide nozzles fly off.

Sometimes only the stamped sole is criticized.

4th place in the ranking - Fiolent PDZ-70 circular saw - high power for little money

Fiolent PDZ-70 makes sense to buy when you need more power, but the budget is limited. Despite the large weight, the circular saw is quite easy to use. In addition, it can be equipped with a laser pointer (index /A in the name), an electronic system soft start and overload protection (/E). The quality is unstable, hence the various reviews:

  • “There is such a unit. 2 years "both in the tail and in the mane", and at least she henna! Noisy, just too short and the wire.
  • “... clumsy work. Squeals and rustles like a homemade circular. The base plate is weak, and the attachment to it generally sucks.
  • “I sawed along a raw log about 120 mm in diameter, about 6 m long. The car is a beast, it didn’t jam, the engine didn’t heat up.”

Interskol DP-1600 completes the rating - an affordable circular saw with good performance

The main advantage of this saw is the price and affordable service. Definitely good as a carpenter's tool. For carpentry use, it is not “knocked down” enough, although, with a hand, you can correct the corners and reduce the backlash. Reviews are as controversial as about Fiolent. About working in rather difficult conditions they write approvingly:

  • “I sawed timber along 150/150. It cuts calmly to the full depth of the knife ... it cuts any kind of wood, even old oak, sometimes nails, but loses teeth on screws.

But breakdowns often upset:

  • “... the lock button for removing the disk fell out after six months ... the platform was driven a year later, almost at the same time, the anchor landing under the brushes and brushes burned out, after repair, this anchor almost burned out a year later.”

So, what is the best circular saw to buy?

Let's summarize.

  • For regular work with thin material, we recommend Bosch PKS 40
  • As a universal instrument, the winner of the competition was Bosch GKS 190, although any model presented in the table is worthy of taking a place in your workshop, having its own advantages.
  • If you belong to that rare category that needs a circular saw for dissolving the “weave” timber into boards in one pass - take Hitachi.

The circular saw is a compact yet powerful tool for joinery work on wood (sometimes on sheet metal), designed primarily for the home workshop. According to the design and the leading battery, “circulars” are conventionally divided into three classes:

  1. network hand-held circular saws - have a nominally high power relative to their "younger" battery-powered counterparts
  2. cordless hand-held circular saws - their advantage lies in greater mobility, since dependence on mains power does not interfere with movement;
  3. stationary circular saws of machine type - massive and powerful installations for serious carpentry work.

The main problem that haunts potential buyers at the stage of choosing a circular saw is the ignorance of the main parameters that you should pay attention to, as well as the abundance of models from numerous manufacturers. To make things a lot easier, we've compiled a list of the top eight saw blades in three main categories for you. The selection of applicants was based on the following criteria:

  • atypical model for the manufacturer's line;
  • users' opinions regarding various aspects of the purchased product;
  • expert reviews on the justification of the purchase (price / quality ratio);
  • careful comparison of ratings.
unique templates and modules for dle

The best chain saws

Network models are the first version of circular saws. They are more powerful than later battery counterparts, but their range of use is limited due to the length of the mains cable. They are ideal for use on a fixed site, but in case of frequent movement, you should resort to the use of cordless saws.

3 Bosch PKS 55

Optimum operating parameters
Country: Germany
Average price: 6 590 rubles.
Rating (2017): 4.5

A circular saw model from Bosch, designed to surprise brand followers very much. It is impossible to say bad about it: the operating parameters are at their best, as well as ergonomics. However, in production, apparently, something went wrong. As a result, a tool of excellent brand quality turned out to be a “time bomb” - you never know at what point it will burn out. This is a powerful fact of indignation for users who are accustomed to receiving from the company, if not ideal, then very close to this quality.

Advantages:

  • good working parameters (perfectly processes even hardwoods);
  • ergonomics and reliability of the case.

Flaws:

  • is able to suddenly fail, regardless of the period of operation (cases of tool breakage after using it for six months have been recorded).

2 DeWALT DWE560

High power level (1350 W)
Country: USA (Made in China)
Average price: 7,699 rubles.
Rating (2017): 4.7

The most powerful a circular saw from all presented in this category. Is in high demand by users due to the massive good reviews. Sawing wood materials occurs at a speed of 5500 rpm - the tool is not afraid of obstacles in the form of longitudinal spreading of boards and sawing thick bars in several passes. It is this fact that is decisive for most users - the DeWALT DWE560 is bought mainly for large-scale carpentry or construction work (for equipping a professional workshop or building a house).

Easy to handle, unpretentious in maintenance, easy to set up and moderately productive - this is how, in a few words, you can give an exhaustive description of this circular saw.

Advantages:

  • ergonomic qualities at height;
  • reliable plastic-steel case;
  • the presence of a vacuum cleaner as an additional option;
  • case included.

Flaws:

  • there are restrictions on the shaped cutout (a purely individual moment);
  • difficulty in finding and acquiring original discs.

1 Makita HS6601

The best tool quality
Country: Japan
Average price: 7,251 rubles.
Rating (2017): 4.8

The least powerful of the competitors in the category, but one of the most stable circulars from the Japanese brand. Designed for sawing hardwoods, though not at the fastest pace. There is no doubt about the ergonomics of use - the Japanese did a great job on this component. In terms of performance, Makita HS6601 also did not let us down. The shaft diameter for the saw blade is standard 20 millimeters, so finding a replacement for it (if it is needed at all) will not be a big problem. The cutting height is limited to a figure of 55 millimeters - since fifty-fifty boards are mainly amenable to cutting, this indicator looks the most optimal.

Advantages:

  • branded quality from "Makita";
  • the most common diameter for disc fit;
  • optimal cutting height;
  • the presence of a parallel stop and the function of engine braking.

Flaws:

  • not detected.

The best cordless circular saws

As mentioned at the beginning, the main advantage of cordless circular saws is a high degree of mobility, which is offset by low speed and relatively low power. Currently, manufacturers have come up with a significant improvement in performance, however, the addition of this component negatively affects the overall weight of the structure. The general result is as follows: cordless saws are ideal for cutting materials from soft and medium hard woods, as well as thin sheet metal (mainly non-ferrous).

3 RYOBI R18CS-0

Low cost
Country: Japan
Average price: 4,893 rubles.
Rating (2017): 4.6

Circular saw, magnificent in its individuality. Perhaps the only element for which she receives praise is the combination of price and quality. Despite the unimaginably low cost for a tool of this class, the overall finish and engine life remain at a consistently high level. But in terms of performance, everything is more confusing. The fact is that the main “sore” of Ryobi is the unwillingness of manufacturers to customize components to a single and at least somewhat popular standard. So, the landing diameter of the disc on this model is 16 millimeters. This is not as critical as, for example, in the earlier version of the saw with a ten-millimeter fit, but it also requires individual "treatment" in the form of a washer.

Here you can also see a crazy thing in the form of a mismatch between the cut line and the risks on the body, an obvious (noticeable) backlash on the spindle, as well as an unimaginable howl at the start of the engine (isolated cases).

Advantages:

  • low cost;
  • standard disk size (165 millimeters);
  • high quality case;
  • significant engine life.

Flaws:

  • spindle play;
  • rare landing diameter under the disk.

2 Bosch GKS 10.8 V-LI 0

The best ratio of price and quality
Country: Germany
Average price: 7,291 rubles.
Rating (2017): 4.9

One of the most successful circular saws from Bosch. Judging by the feedback from users, many liked the dimensions and performance of the tool, although the quality in individual moments could have been higher. To begin with, about the cons: the native disks from Bosch lead a little to the side when working. Naturally, this reduces the cutting accuracy, but it is treated by installing other discs (from a no less well-known company). The second drawback is a weak battery. For such a (seemingly compact) model, a minimum 2 Ah battery is required.

In terms of good points everything is more than good in Bosch GKS 10.8. Firstly, consumers note the lightness of the saw, which can be wielded with one hand. Secondly, it is impossible not to note small but pleasant little things, such as a battery charge indicator, the presence of a depth regulator and a guide. As a result, we have a very expensive, but fully justified purchase for the home and home workshop.

Advantages:

  • compatible with the entire line of tools from Bosch;
  • good equipment;
  • the presence of useful little things (backlight, charge indicator, etc.).

Flaws:

  • high cost of tools and accessories;
  • sometimes there is a withdrawal of the disk.

1 AEG BKS 18

The best balance of parameters
Country: Germany
Average price: 8 890 rubles.
Rating (2017): 4.9

Powerful, and at the same time not the most expensive circular saw in its class, which can be a good addition to the home carpentry workshop. Under the century-old brand of the once main supplier of weapons in Germany, a group of companies headed by the large global concern Electrolux has now settled. In general, the quality of their tools meets high international standards, which, surprisingly, is not always reflected in the price.

AEG BKS 18, of course, is a worthy representative of the German company. A cordless circular saw almost completely replaces network analogs - despite the not very capacious and strong battery, the voltage is enough to accelerate the disc to 2500 rpm. This allows you to easily cut 50 mm boards both across and along the dissolution. The only problem manifests itself in the warm season: in the heat, the battery quickly overheats, and an attempt to cut for a long time leads to the protection unit.

Advantages:

  • attractive price;
  • great quality;
  • high performance.

Flaws:

  • rare cutting discs (for a landing size of 15.87 mm);
  • In warm weather, under load, the battery overheats.

The best machine saws

Real giants of carpentry, guaranteeing the most accurate and fast sawing even of hardwoods. They have an additional work area in the form of a table that can be used as a workbench to install other tools or perform carpentry operations. Much more powerful than hand-held circular saws, but less economical and more expensive to purchase.

2 Interskol DPN-250/1500P

The optimal ratio of price and functionality
Country Russia
Average price: 18,690 rubles.
Rating (2017): 4.8

If in the category of manual circular saws Interskol has periodic problems, then in the case of stationary sawmills, things are much better. And the point here is not only in good technical specifications- the table layout is interesting in that it has elongated side parts, which are convenient to use as a simple workbench (perform carpentry operations or mount tools). It is also noteworthy that even with such "sides" the machine remains quite compact, which users really like.

The second important factor is the rated power. 1500 W is more than enough for the smooth cutting of 50 mm boards along the entire length, without wedges and tearing. The adjustments are accurate, the backlash is minimal, but there was still a place for one serious drawback: users complain about the lack of a smooth start of the engine. This defect is “treated” by independent intervention in the internal structure, however, such measures automatically remove the machine from warranty service.

Advantages:

  • convenient to use as a workbench;
  • precise parameter settings;
  • high power.

Flaws:

  • lack of soft start of the engine.

1 Metabo BKS 400 Plus - 3.1 WNB

The best professional level machine
Country: Germany
Average price: 76,799 rubles.
Rating (2017): 5.0

Serious professional machine of high precision for joinery and carpentry work. Easily cuts wood-based materials with 3100 watts of rated power, as well as sheet metal with the appropriate saw blade. In accordance with the price level, the developers have verified almost all the nuances and leveled the weaknesses characteristic of sawmills: backlash, slight distortions of the table near the saw blade, equipping the engine with an electronic soft start and brake unit.

In addition to the standard set of functions, a dust collector is installed in the Metabo BKS 400 Plus, and it is also possible to connect a vacuum cleaner (for extracting chips straight from the working area). The main plus concerns the same engine - the presence of (another) electronic protection unit makes it practically indestructible, for which, in fact, users prefer this machine.

Advantages:

  • multifunctionality;
  • the presence of blocks of protection, soft start and emergency braking of the engine;
  • can be used as a workbench;
  • complete set.

Flaws:

  • high cost (compensated by build quality).

I want to buy a convenient, reliable hand-held circular saw, and, if possible, inexpensive. By what criteria to choose and which manufacturers to give preference to? What to look for when choosing?

How to choose a circular saw

For a circular saw, the main parameters are power and depth of cut. We choose depending on the upcoming work with this tool. If it is supposed to cut the material along in-line, then you need an electric saw that can cut for a long time, for example, a board at 50. If the task is simpler, that is, they sawed a little, cut it, then sawed it again, then this is a completely different power and the unit is simpler. The blade is better at 165 mm, if you do not need to saw the fifty at an angle of 45 º. It is advisable to immediately buy a disc for 10 and 40 teeth - the first for a thick array along, the second for sheet materials and lining, and also to cut across.

Next, we check how the selected unit "lies in the hand." The lighter the saw, the better, so of course the preference is for models with a cut of 55 mm. In the version of Bosch and Makita, the saws weigh 3.5 kg, for Interskol and Dewalt, about 4 kg. Be sure to pay attention to the parallelism of the disk to the sole, many circulars have a sin in this. Next, we look at the convenience of adjusting the depth of cut and the inclination of the disk, what is the view of the cut line, and the method of dust removal.

If everything suits you at this stage of the selection, we are interested in whether there is a service center for the maintenance of saws of this manufacturer. And, of course, the price, but everything depends on your financial capabilities.

Hand circular saws (circulars). Overview of models, tips on how to choose a circular saw.

What can be done with the board? For example, cut. We measured everything seven times that way, marked it out, sawing it. We saw, of course, with a saw, but what kind? Saws, as you know, are manual, electric and gasoline.

Let's first understand what is hand saws. There is enough of this stuff in stores and markets, and domestic copies are not inferior to similar imported ones. Finally, we have learned how to make durable canvases and more or less comfortable handles that do not rub calluses on your hands during work. By the way, for the price<наши>and imported saws are not very different. In one of the next issues, I will definitely talk about hand saws in more detail, but now I want to give a couple useful tips about the first thing you need to know when buying a hand saw.

First, never buy hacksaws or replacement blades (especially for metal) Chinese made. They cut badly, but break well - apparently due to a violation of the hardening technology. This is money thrown away.

Secondly, the so-called self-sharpening saws. As the sellers explain, the saw<при работе сама собой затачивается за счет трения об обрабатываемый материал>. Therefore, they say, such a saw always remains sharp. Believe me, there are no miracles. It's like that your car while driving will not only consume fuel, but also produce it itself.<Секрет>these<чудо-пил>ridiculously simple: the blade is made of a harder material than usual, which is why it stays sharp several times longer. But keep in mind: when the saw does become dull, it will be very difficult for you to sharpen it again - precisely because of the hardness of the material! (By the way, sharpening an ordinary hacksaw with a file and a needle file is not difficult technologically. Describing this process on paper is a thankless task. In any village there is a craftsman who will gladly explain this to you<на пальцах>.)

Move on. Next on the list - electric saws. There are many models from different manufacturers, which, of course, differ in price and quality. It is clear that the main difference between the existing types of power saws is the principle of operation, but almost all of them (to a certain extent) are interchangeable.

Let's classify them. Electric saws, like everything in this world, there are imported and domestic. Imported ones are divided into disk (circular), jigsaw, trimming (the principle of operation is the same as that of disk), reciprocating, chain and carpentry electric saws. Domestic are divided into disk, jigsaw and chain. Other species, at least to me, are unknown.

Let's start with circular saws. The cutting tool in them is a metal disk with sharp teeth, which rotates around its own axis at high speed. A circular saw is used to make long, straight cuts. The saw can be held in your hands and moved relative to the surface being cut, or you can fix the saw in the frame and move the material itself (for large volumes of work, this is best done).

Circular saws are very useful for dacha construction and repair. Here is an example of a specific case.

I have one friend - a man<с золотыми руками>. He made very good money.<вкалывал>from dawn to dusk. And he spent his long-awaited vacation in stuffy Moscow. Sometimes, of course, I went to some resort, but:. The soul for such rest did not lie at the person. And he decided to build himself a house in the suburbs. I bought a plot, put up a log house, began to attach a terrace. Well, then - a painfully familiar story to everyone: crisis, job loss, casual and insignificant earnings: In general, the frame for the terrace is made, but there is nothing to upholster - no<золотого>stock.

And then a miracle happened! The man had the opportunity<приватизировать> unedged board in sufficient quantity for upholstering the terrace. Well, of course he is<горбыль>privatized, and then what? upholster the terrace<горбылем>? Ugly. Such a structure will be more like a shed, but, as you know, a terrace is needed. It was then that the purchased in better times <циркулярка>(what model - I do not know). In short, a man sawed a normal edged board from these firewood - not<супер>of course, but quite<на уровне>. Upholstered the terrace, and still left for the barn. And in his spare time, my friend took up counting. It turned out that in the end he fully paid for the cost of his saw. This summer the man is quite successful<халтурит>with the help of his<циркулярки>i.e. net income. Here is such a story.

But just in case, I warn you: a circular saw pays off pretty quickly if you are engaged in construction seriously and for a long time. While doing<штучных>works it is worth buying a household-class saw and cheaper, you can use it.

Now oh different types discs for circular saws. First of all, discs come with carbide soldering and without soldering. Solder-free discs are usually used to obtain clean and beautiful cuts in soft wood. With solid wood, and even more so with metal, this disc will not cope. If a nail accidentally hits a sawn board, the disk will remain<без зубов>. It is impossible to revive it:<вставных челюстей>not released for this purpose.

In this sense, models with carbide tips are much more interesting. Such a disc will easily cut the caught<на зуб>nail and calmly continue its (your) work. But here you have to come to terms with the fact that when working with such a disc, the cut turns out to be not very clean, even slightly<лохматым>.

About the shape of the teeth: they are, I'm not afraid of the word, active (positive sharpening angle) and passive (negative sharpening angle). Let me explain: if the tooth is bent, as it were, along the rotation of the disk, this is a positive sharpening angle; if against the move - negative. The positive angle allows cutting wood, wood with nails, plastic, etc. A negative angle will be able to saw, for example, tin and copper. Theoretically, a tree can also be cut with such a disk, but the cut is very<лохматым>: the teeth do not cut, but tear apart the wood fibers. So before choosing a disk, you should decide for what kind of work you need it? And the sellers will tell you a specific model.

Now oh specific models. I am pleased to note that circular saws are produced in Moscow, which are not inferior to imported analogues either in design or reliability. Power 1200 W, disc 200 mm, cutting depth - up to 65 mm, equipped with a protective cover. The price at the beginning of the summer was about 1300 rubles. More about models. Here I have listed the most interesting of them, but this does not mean that they can be seen in all stores and construction markets. There, as a rule, copies are sold simpler and cheaper. With these simple-cheap power tools, we decided to set up a kind of experiment or, as it is now fashionable to say, we conducted<рейтингование>. The essence of the process is as follows: we took two models of each of the above manufacturers (from those that can be purchased on the market), equipped them with absolutely identical saw blades (domestic production), brought to the editorial office several identical spruce boards 6 meters long and 50 mm thick. And then we chose<группу товарищей>from among the editorial staff (including beautiful ladies) and suggested that they take turns sawing the board lengthwise using the electric saws available. Then each model was evaluated on a five-point system and an average score was derived. Here are the results of this test.

  • Black & Decker. In general, the impression is good, although there are some shortcomings, especially noted by the weaker half of the editorial team: a not very comfortable pen (not at all comfortable for a person with a small palm), enough high level vibrations - it is difficult to keep the saw exactly on the cut line. The result is 3.75 points.
  • Bosch. Amateur-class electric saws are recognized as more comfortable to hold in their hands than the glorious representatives of professional saws. The noise level is slightly higher than the Black & Decker, but the vibration is lower. The result (in the aggregate amateur / professional class) - 4 points.
  • Makita. A very good impression. The team decided that the only drawback was the rather high price for this model. The result is 3.75 points.
  • DeWalt. I liked this model, perhaps, more than anyone else, the design is not bad and the handle is comfortable. The level of noise and vibration is low, the model is suitable for comfortable long-term work. The price for a power tool of this class is quite acceptable. The only drawback noted by our ladies is the yellow color of the case. Say, it will quickly get dirty and will be ugly. But, on the other hand, a tool of such bright colors is clearly visible in the grass - you will not lose it. The result is 4.5 points.
  • Skil. Here opinions differ greatly. On the one hand, it is very reminiscent of the Bosch amateur model, but too<топорная>processing of the body, on the other hand, it is quite an acceptable price. The result is 3.5 points.
  • Milwaukee. An extremely rare visitor to the Moscow markets. I got this copy, according to the seller, quite by accident. The impression is good, but the price is unreasonably high. What are we overpaying for? It is declared that we pay for quality, but this brand is new for the Russian market, and the opinion of consumers on this matter has not yet been formed. But in general - a fairly easy-to-use electric saw. The result is 3.75 points.
  • Power saw manufactured by the Moscow Radio Engineering Plant (MRTZ) makes a very good impression for its price. Of course, there are certain drawbacks (who doesn't have them?), but for the money they are all very minor. The result is 4.25 points.
  • Atlas Copco. I did not find models from this manufacturer either in the markets or in stores. True, in the representative office of the company they told me that I was looking badly, but they agreed that the appearance of this brand in retail is an infrequent phenomenon. Therefore, we have not yet been able to test these electric saws, but in the future we will definitely test and tell you.

Speaking about circular saws, I want to emphasize that each model is designed to use a disc of one particular diameter. You simply cannot install a disc with a larger diameter, and a smaller disc is unacceptable for safety reasons: in this case, a gap is formed between the disc and the protective casing, into which a finger can accidentally fall. Given the speed of rotation, you will be left without a finger instantly.

Jigsaw electric saws, as well as reciprocating electric saws, can be no less useful on the farm, and a chain saw can come in handy, but more on that another time.
