Handheld power tool test tag. Inspection and testing of power tools

According to the rules of labor protection, there is a clear algorithm for the process of preparing for work, checking and testing power tools, as well as other electrical devices. These devices have various current-carrying parts, which pose a particular danger to humans, because in the event of a malfunction they are able to pass electricity. To eliminate the possibility of electric shock, modern tools are equipped with double insulation, and the ground wires of the cable are brought out to the corresponding contact of the plug.

The essence of the inspection of power tools

Electrical safety includes periodic inspection of power tools. In fact, it involves inspecting the outer casing of the tool for integrity, as well as the current-carrying cable for damage to the core insulation. In addition, it is necessary to check the power tool for the integrity of the plug and check the quality of the contacts.

If it is supposed to check manual electrical equipment, then this process is quite laborious, takes more time and contains several stages. It is important to observe certain testing periods for power tools. The data of each of them is documented in a certain way. So, for example, the test of insulation resistance in electric elevators and cranes is carried out at intervals of one year.

In contrast, inspection periods for portable power tools in construction or industry should be reviewed every ten days.

Types and terms of testing power tools

Power tools on their body have data on the inventory number and the date of the next check. Depending on the insulation on the entire tool or its individual parts, class I, II, III power tools are divided.

The first class is characterized by the obligatory presence of a grounding contact on the plug, in contrast to the second class. For the І-th and ІІ-th class, the rated voltage is set at 220V with direct current and 380V for tools with alternating current.

The third class uses a voltage of not more than 42V, is powered by an independent power source or using a converter transformer.

Power tool testing is divided into several types:

  • type tests, which are applied to new, manufactured samples;
  • periodic, carried out at a certain interval;
  • acceptance tests applied to a serial batch before transfer to the customer.

Extraordinary tests do not fall within the established deadlines for checking the power tool, as they can be caused by a sudden breakdown or overhaul. The scope of testing also depends on the degree of failure and type of repair and includes:

  • inspection of the correct assembly;
  • inspection of the ground circuit for serviceability;
  • checking the electrical strength of insulation;
  • run-in for about thirty minutes in operating mode.

An insulation resistance test between live parts shall show the following results:

  • on the main insulation - 2 MΩ;
  • on additional insulation - 5 MΩ;
  • on reinforced insulation - 7 Mohm.

Specialized services are responsible for the operation and condition of electrical equipment and tools at the enterprise. They keep a log of checks and tests of power tools, eliminate the consequences of emergencies, maintain and carry out the necessary repairs. The regulations and test results of the power tool are recorded in the regulatory documents of the test. The task of each enterprise that has power tools in operation is to ensure the safety of personnel.

Employees of the company "Elektrozamer" will test and check any power tool at a high level and in compliance with all standards.

Prices for checking and testing power tools of the company "Electrozamer " not so high. Do your business, and Elektrozamer will take care of your safety.

"Power tool": a thematic subsection with reviews, tips for choosing, technical descriptions power tools various kinds- these are electric drills, grinders, parquet saws and electric jigsaws, wrenches and screwdrivers, as well as other units. The subsection also contains information on the inspection and testing of power tools, which, however, differ somewhat from similar operations required by technical regulations.

Inspection and testing of power tools, in accordance with regulations, is carried out quite often. For example, the "Intersectoral rules for labor protection in retail trade" indicate: "8.5.30. Power tools and auxiliary equipment for it (transformers, frequency converters, protective shutdown devices, extension cables) must be subjected to periodic inspection at least once every 6 months. The result of the check is recorded in the register, checks and tests of the power tool and auxiliary equipment for it. " It must be assumed that all sorts of extension cords, adapters and stationary electrical machines, such as portable generators, fall into the same regulations. Similarly, they are asked to check everything every 6 months and the "Rules for the technical operation of consumer electrical installations."

However, such documents are more appropriate for large, highly energy-intensive equipment found in industrial environments. We are better suited simple requirements SNiP.

SNiP insist on checking the tool every 10 days: "7.4.38. Tool used in construction, industry building materials and the construction industry, should be inspected at least once every 10 days, as well as immediately before use. A faulty tool that does not meet safety requirements must be removed. "The check includes an external inspection; check of idling for at least 5 minutes; measurement of insulation resistance; check of the serviceability of the ground circuit of electrical receivers and auxiliary equipment of classes 01 and 1, that is the first two points that sellers of power tools perform in the store, plus more measurements.GOST (GOST R IEC 61140-2000, section 7 - "Coordination of protective measures for electrical equipment and electrical installations") provides more interesting information.

This is what concerns regulatory testing and power tool inspection. We will not limit ourselves to "idling for 5 minutes", but we will check each specific tool in a working environment, and this is somewhat different. In addition, sometimes more serious machines are tested, but this already applies to the section.

Working with electricity is quite dangerous business. Proper operation manual power tools includes a set of actions, such as connecting the device to the network, monitoring the performance of work strictly according to the instructions for the tool and in accordance with safety rules. Before starting operation, the serial number of the unit is indicated in the power tool check log, which can be downloaded on the pages of our company website. To work with power tools you need high level the employee’s admission, his knowledge and conscientiousness, therefore, only a competent employee of a specialized company must fill out the test report for a hand-held power tool.

Unfortunately, it is not always possible to rely on the competence and attentiveness of employees, the human factor is always present in any enterprise. The worst that can be expected from poor quality testing or misuse of equipment is fire, short circuit and industrial accidents.

In order to avoid such consequences, electrical equipment is tested. The data must be done at least once every six months and with the help of special equipment, and the results of the checks must be entered in the register of checks and tests of the power tool. The same log contains data on the work of a certain tool, the duration of operation and the responsible employee.

What is the purpose of checking electrical equipment

Testing of electrical equipment is carried out in stages:

  • External visual inspection of the equipment in the off state. At this stage, the specialist pays attention to the integrity of the cable, plug, the absence of cracks on the tool body and other defects. The received data, like all the rest, must be recorded in the act;
  • Inspection at idle for 5 minutes. Check for the absence of unnecessary noise, knocks and excessive vibration;
  • A 2-minute running test during which the insulation resistance is measured with a megohmmeter. This indicator is the key among those that will be included in the power tool test protocol;
  • Earth resistance measurement for fixed installations, measurement of the level of lightning protection, which allows you to evaluate the behavior of the installation in case of extreme conditions. For stationary installations in the enterprise, the necessary data are entered in the log of the monthly check of the serviceability of the power tool. Inspections of stationary equipment are carried out more often than manual ones.

Based on the results, a test protocol for hand-held power tools is formed, a sample of which can be viewed on our website. This document contains all the real indicators of the device under test, and an official conclusion is given on its suitability for work. The tool, the test of which showed an unsatisfactory result, must be written off as unsuitable for further operation, an act of testing the power tool and an act of write-off are drawn up for it. Such a tool can no longer be used and is dangerous for a number of reasons: a high chance of fire, unreliable fastening of parts, and so on.

Reasons for writing off a power tool:

  • repair is not economically feasible due to expensive parts. In this case, the employee enters data on the approximate cost of repairing the tool in the log for checking and testing the power tool;
  • repair is not possible due to lack of parts on the market;
  • the tool is not recoverable.

Each power tool must have its own power tool inspection protocol according to its serial number.
