Do-it-yourself LED lamp from LED strip. How to make a simple DIY LED lamp

Today, LED lighting can be found in many homes. This is due to the fact that LEDs are the most preferred of all the available variety of lighting devices. LEDs have excellent lighting characteristics and also save a significant amount of electricity. That is why they are so in demand today. Today, the most popular LED strip as the main element of the lighting fixture.

It should be noted that the cost of such a product will be somewhat more expensive. Therefore, not every person can purchase it, but doing it yourself is easy. Our article will help you in this endeavor.

LED Strip Light

The LED strip is a flexible rubberized " printed circuit board". It contains current-limiting resistors and frameless LEDs. Such a convenient design allows you to make your own lamp and install it anywhere. At the same time, the device of the tape allows you to make cuts on it and divide it into pieces of the required size.

Note! To avoid breaking the contact between the LEDs, it is necessary to cut the tape only in specially designed places. They are marked with a white line.

After the cut, the contacts in its place must be soldered to the power wire.

LED Strip Light

Also in the structure of the LED strip there is a self-adhesive layer that allows you to install it anywhere.
To date, this product has various options in terms of installing LEDs, differing in the characteristics of the luminous flux. The most popular tape models today are 12V powered products.

Light from led strip with your own hands you can make it from any of its formats (single or multi-color type). The main thing is to follow the assembly instructions, as well as take into account the structural features of the tape itself.
So homemade lighting fixture most often used not as the main light source, but as an additional one. For example, it can be installed on the desktop, under the bottom wall cabinet etc.

What you need

Since the LED strip has a fairly high flexibility, the format of the lighting device from it can be very diverse. But the basic assembly principles remain the same in any situation.
To make a lamp out of such a strip, you should have everything at hand. necessary tools and materials. Otherwise, the process may be delayed or not performed efficiently.
In this situation, you should have the following materials on hand:

Plastic electrical box

  • directly LED strip with the necessary parameters of the LEDs. It is best to use a strip 8 mm wide;
  • screws;
  • aluminum corner. In size, it should be 10x10 mm, and 1.5 m long). The corner can be replaced with a plastic electrical box. This will in no way affect the quality of the manufactured lighting fixture;
  • small switch.

Of the tools you will need:

  • drill;
  • a pencil with a ruler;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • pliers.

After you have made sure that you have all the necessary materials and tools, you can proceed to the main stage of work - assembly.

Assembly process

To date, there are a large number of options for how you can make a lamp using LED strip. The assembly method will depend on what type of lighting fixture you want to end up with:

  • horizontal;
  • vertical;
  • on legs.

Making holes

Let's consider some of them in more detail.
Half of the steps that need to be done during the assembly process do not depend on the luminaire version. Therefore, they will match.
The assembly of the product from the LED strip is as follows:

  • first we measure the length of the corner required for assembly;
  • we drill holes in it, with the help of which the device will be attached to the surface. Screws should be used as fasteners here;

Note! In the corner, it is also necessary to cut out a place to place a microswitch in it.

  • we fix the corner in the place we need;
  • we install a switch in the cut-out place and solder the wires to the tape at the place where it is cut into separate pieces;
  • degrease the LED strip with acetone;

Wiring diagram

  • then we attach the LED strip to the installed corner. In order for it to adhere evenly, it must be attached lightly to the surface, and then leveled. After that, you can run your hand along the tape, finally fixing it in the chosen place;
  • then we connect the wires to an adapter or power supply that has the power we need. Usually the power is 12V.

Note! Only with the help of an adapter / power supply it will be possible to connect the lamp to a standard power line, which has a power of 220V.

As you can see from the assembly instructions, the final result should be a luminaire of a horizontal installation method. It can be effectively used in the kitchen to illuminate the cooking area, countertop or hob. Also, such a lamp will be relevant in the children's room. Here it would be appropriate to mark it above the desk under a hanging shelf or cabinet.
But remember that the maximum lighting efficiency of such a device is achieved at a height of 70-80 cm above the work surface. In this case, the light will not blind the eyes or irritate them.

Second option

Cut out details

In addition to this type of lamp, a more complex and original lighting device can be made from an LED strip. Here, unlike the first option, you will need a 3 m long LED strip and an RGB controller with a remote control. In addition, the luminaire device will contain a nickel-plated pipe or furniture legs, as well as slats, chipboard, plywood.
In this situation, you need to do the following manipulations:

  • cut 6 rings with different diameters from a piece of plywood with an electric jigsaw: 2 large, 2 small and the same number of medium ones;
  • cut out one circle from chipboard. It will be the basis of the future lamp;
  • cut 6 holes in plywood. This will be the top of the model;
  • in the rails we make holes for the screws;
  • paint all the cut out parts in the desired color;

Note! Painting should be done outdoors (outdoors) or in a well-ventilated area.

  • on circles made of chipboard and plywood we fix nickel-plated pipes. They will connect the entire structure together;
  • in the middle of the lamp device we fix the LED strip. We pre-cut it to the size of the inner diameter of the rings. Do not forget to attach a wire to each piece of tape;
  • then we attach the rings (small diameter) to the rails;
  • after that we attach medium and large rings to them in turn;
  • then we put the top of the lamp on this entire structure.

All wires must be hidden in a special cable, which must also be painted in the appropriate color. Do not forget to connect the wires to the RGB controller, with which you will be able to switch lighting modes. It's very easy to do this with the remote control.

Wiring diagram with RGB controller

Of course, this is a much more complex version of the design, but it has a more presentable appearance.

General assembly points

When assembling any lighting device from an LED strip, there are some points that are identical for all designs:

  • the presence of a power supply, base or profile, as well as the actual LED strip itself. A corner, a chrome-plated crossbar, etc. can act as a profile;
  • the principle of cutting the tape itself into pieces of the desired size;
  • sticking the tape either on the inner surface of the lighting device, or on the surface of the corner.

As decorative elements, you can choose any materials. The main thing is that they fit into the existing interior and you like it.
Following the advice of our article, you can build a lamp of any complexity, whether it be vertical, horizontal or on legs.
A lamp made from a DIY LED strip will definitely be a useful thing in the house and will help you illuminate the desired work area.

Children's chandeliers for a girl's room: selection criteria

Quite often indoors you can see lighting with LEDs. This is due to the fact that LEDs have excellent characteristics in terms of lighting, and are also energy-saving in their own way. Currently, handmade LED strip lamps are very popular. The cost of such devices in finished form is quite high, so some consumers want to make such a product on their own.

In this article:

LED strip

The LED strip looks like a rubberized board. It is, however, quite flexible. This is where the LEDs are located. Due to the convenience of the design, it will not be difficult to make a lamp from an LED strip with your own hands. Then you can install the finished product anywhere.

The tape is arranged in such a way that it is possible to divide it into pieces of the required size. In addition, the strip has a self-adhesive layer, due to which it can be installed anywhere.

Manufacturers offer various options for installing LEDs, they will differ in direction and power of the luminous flux.

A homemade lamp from an LED strip can be made from a different format. It is only important to follow the recommendations regarding the assembly, taking into account the characteristics of the tape.

You should know that such lamps act, as a rule, as additional sources of illumination. In the form of the main one, a slightly different format of the chandelier is needed. LEDs are perfect for illuminating cabinets, desktops and similar pieces of furniture.

Strips of LEDs with different characteristics can be used almost everywhere where there is a need for artificial lighting. Much can be said about the advantages of LEDs over conventional lamps. First of all, it is necessary to highlight the main characteristics:

  • profitability;
  • a long period of operation;
  • variety in color combinations;
  • raw materials are available to consumers.

Materials for the lamp

The tape has a fairly high flexibility, due to this, the product can be made in a wide variety of formats. But at the same time there will be general principles in assembly for fixtures of any models.

First of all, you need to prepare all the materials that will be involved in the assembly. This is a necessary condition for the end result to be of high quality and to please the owners of the home.

It will be necessary to prepare the following materials:

  • directly the LED strip with the necessary parameters of the LEDs;
  • screws;
  • aluminum corner, which can be replaced with a plastic box;
  • switch.

You should also take care of the tools:

  • drills;
  • a pencil with a ruler;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • pliers.

When all the required materials and tools are ready, you can proceed to the actual assembly of the future product.

Mounting process

There are a considerable number of variations on how you can make a lamp using an LED strip.

The specific option will be determined only by what kind of device you want to see in the end. They are also available in the following varieties:

  • horizontal;
  • vertical;
  • with legs.

Most of the steps that will need to be performed during the assembly process will not depend on the variation of the final device. Because of this, they will be the same.

The assembly will take place in stages:

  • First of all, you need to measure the length of the corner;
  • then the required hole is drilled in it, thanks to which the product will be fixed on the selected surface with screws;
  • the corner must be fixed in the selected area;
  • in the place where the hole is made, you will need to install a switch, also in the place where there is a cut, you need to solder the wires;
  • the tape should be treated with acetone so that its surface becomes fat-free;
  • the tape itself is attached directly to the corner.

To do everything smoothly, it is better to glue lightly at first, and only after making sure that everything is done smoothly, level it over the entire surface.

  • after that, you will need to connect all the wires, as a rule, the power for such devices is chosen at 12 V.

Thus, the output will be a lighting device that can be installed horizontally. A great option to install the backlight on the work surface in the kitchen. In addition, such lamps are in demand in other rooms, for example, in a nursery. It is very convenient to place them on dedicated shelves.

As an additional light source, the option with an LED lamp is optimal. Since it can be used as a backlight and will not irritate the eyes. Moreover, it will not be difficult to do it on your own.

An LED is a semiconductor device that can convert electricity into light emission. One 220 volt LED lamp saves a huge amount of electricity. Savings come out 2 times more than a fluorescent lamp and 10 times than an incandescent lamp. If you use parts from a burned-out lamp to make such a lamp, you can significantly reduce costs. Do-it-yourself LED lamp can be assembled quite simply. But do not forget that for this you must have the appropriate qualifications, as you will have to work with high voltage.

Benefits of LEDs

Nowadays, you can find a huge number of types of chandeliers with LED lamps in stores. They have different advantages and disadvantages. Modernization of energy saving lamps allows you to take advantage of all the benefits of fluorescent light. This applies to the most common fixtures with an E 27 base. And the old representatives of this family were endowed with an unpleasant flicker. Fluorescent light sources are truly a miracle. Compared to them, incandescent lamps are losing ground very much. Their high power consumption and low light output are not offset by their high color rendering index.

Durability is their main advantage. It is mechanically strong and reliable.. It is known that its life can reach up to 100,000 hours. And they are also considered environmentally friendly light sources, unlike fluorescent lamps, which, in turn, contain mercury. But as you know, fluorescent lamps have some disadvantages:

  • The vapors contained in the tubes are quite poisonous.
  • Due to frequent switching on and off, they can quickly fail.
  • The design itself requires a certain amount of recycling.

In order to remove this small minus and turn it into a good plus, you can build a lamp from an LED strip with your own hands. In this way, the cost of the light source can be reduced. It will be much lower than that of luminescent counterparts . Also, this lamp will have several advantages:

  • Lamp life will be a record 100,000 hours, but only if properly assembled.
  • The cost of a homemade device is no higher than that of a fluorescent lamp.
  • The watt/lumen efficiency is far superior to all analogues.

But there is also one drawback - this product does not have a warranty. It must be compensated by the skill of the electrician and the exact observance of the instructions.

Homemade lamps

To create a lamp with your own hands, there are a huge number of ways. Using an old base from a burned-out fluorescent lamp is the most common method. Such resources are available in every home, so there will be no problems finding them. And you will also need:

In some schemes, one or two items from this list may not be useful. However, in others, on the contrary, new links in the chain may be needed, for example: drivers or electrolytes. In each specific case, you need make a list of required materials.

How to make a DIY LED lamp

To proceed with the installation of the lamp, it is necessary to prepare two damaged fluorescent lamps with a power of 13 W and a length of half a meter. There is no point in buying new ones, it is best to find broken old ones. But they must be checked for cracks and chips.

Next, in the store you need to purchase an LED strip. This must be approached responsibly, as the choice is very large. Ribbons with natural or pure white light work best. Since they do not change the shades of surrounding objects and are super-bright. Usually in these tapes the LEDs are assembled in groups of three. The power of one group is 14 watts, and the voltage is 12 volts per meter tape.

After that, you need to disassemble the fluorescent lamps into their component parts. It is necessary to act very carefully - do not damage the wires and do not break the tube, as in this case toxic fumes will escape. All extracted entrails should not be thrown away. They may come in handy later. Next, you need to cut the tape into sections of 3 diodes. After that, it is worth getting expensive and unnecessary converters. Large, sturdy scissors or wire cutters are best for cutting the tape.

As a result, there should be 22 groups 3 leds or 66 leds, which must be connected in parallel along the entire length. To convert AC to DC, you need standard voltage 220 volts increase to 250 in the electrical network. This is due to the straightening process. The next step is to figure out the number of LED sections. To do this, you need to divide 250 volts by 12 volts (voltage for 1 group of 3 pcs.). Having received as a result 20.8 (3), you need to round up - you get 21 groups. It is best to add another group, as the total number of LEDs will be divided into two lamps. And dividing an even number is much easier.

Next, you need a DC rectifier, which can be found in the extracted insides of a fluorescent lamp. Using wire cutters, we remove the capacitor from the common converter circuit. It is quite easy to perform this action, since it is separate from the diodes, you just have to break off the board.

Using superglue and soldering, it is necessary to assemble the entire structure. You should not try to fit all 22 sections into one lamp. As mentioned above, you need to find 2 half-meter lamps, since it is simply impossible to place all the LEDs in one. You do not need to rely on the self-adhesive layer, which is located on the back of the tape. He won't be able to last long. Therefore, to fix the LEDs, it is better to use superglue or liquid nails.

Summing up, you can make out all the advantages of the assembled product. The amount of light from the resulting lamps is 1.5 times greater than that of analogues. But the power consumption is much less than that of fluorescent lamps. The service life of this light source will be about 10 times longer. And also one of the advantages - is the direction of the light. It is directed strictly downward and does not have the ability to dissipate. Therefore, it will be best used at the desktop or in the kitchen. However, the emitted light is not high brightness, but has low power consumption.

Constant use of the lamp in the on state will consume only 4 kW of energy per year. The cost of electricity consumed per year can be compared with the cost of a ticket in public transport. Therefore, such light sources are often used where constant illumination is required, for example:

  • The outside.
  • The corridor.
  • Utility room.
  • Emergency lighting.

Simple LED light bulb

There is another way to create a lamp. A table lamp, chandelier or lantern needs an E14 or E27 socket. Accordingly, the diodes used and the circuit will be different. Compact fluorescent lamps are now common . For installation you will need one burned out cartridge, as well as a modified list of materials. Necessary:

Let's move on to creating an LED module with our own hands. First you need to disassemble the old lamp. AT fluorescent lamps the base is attached to the plate with tubes and secured with latches. The plinth can be detached quite simply. It is necessary, having found places with latches, pry them with a screwdriver. You need to do everything quite carefully so as not to damage the tubes. When opening, it is necessary to ensure that the electrical wiring that leads to the base remains intact.

From the upper part with gas discharge tubes, you need to make a plate to which the LEDs will be attached. To do this, disconnect the bulb tubes. The rest of the plate has 6 holes. In order for the LEDs to fit tightly in it, you need to make a cardboard or plastic “bottom” that will also isolate the LEDs. You need to use NK6 LEDs, they are multi-chip (6 crystals per diode) with parallel connection.

Because of this, the light source is ultra-bright at minimum power. In the cover you need to make 2 holes for each LED. Holes should be pierced carefully and evenly so that their location matches each other and the intended pattern. If you use a piece of plastic as a “bottom”, then the LEDs will be fixed firmly. But in the case of using a piece of cardboard, you will need to glue the base with LEDs using superglue or liquid nails.

Since the light bulb will be used on a 220 volt network, an RLD2-1 driver is required. You can connect 3 diodes of 1 watt to it. For this lamp, it took 6 LEDs with a power of 0.5 watts. From this it follows that the connection circuit will be formed from two parts connected in series from three LEDs connected in parallel.

Before proceeding with the assembly, you need to isolate the driver and the board from each other. To do this, you can use a piece of cardboard or plastic. This will avoid a short circuit in the future. There is no need to worry about overheating, as the lamp does not heat up at all. It remains to assemble the design and test it in action. The white light makes the bulb appear much brighter. The luminous flux of the assembled lamp is 100-120 lumens. This may be enough to illuminate a small room (corridor or utility room).

Types of fixtures

Lamps on LEDs can be divided into two groups: indicator (LED) - are used as indicators, because they are low-power and dim. The green lights on the router are indicator LEDs. Such diodes are also on the TV. Their application is quite varied. For example:

  • Car dashboard lighting.
  • Various electronic devices.
  • Illumination of computer displays.

Their colors have a huge variety: yellow, green, red, purple, blue, white and even ultraviolet. It is worth remembering that the color of the LED does not depend on the color of the plastic. It is determined by the type of semiconductor material from which it is made. In most cases, you need to turn it on to know the color, as they are made of colorless plastic.

A lighting design is used to illuminate something. It differs in its power and brightness. It also has a very reduced price, so it is often used in domestic and industrial lighting. This type of lighting is considered productive, environmentally friendly and cheap. To date, the level of development of technology can allow the production of lamps with a high level of light output per 1 watt.

As elements of lighting devices, LEDs appeared on the market relatively recently. The first LEDs were created in 1962, they emitted a faint red light. For lighting, such devices were not used due to the fact that a very narrow spectrum of light was emitted, and the price for them was quite high.

LED home lighting

With the development of LED manufacturing technology, other colors of the visible spectrum of radiation appeared, the cost of production decreased, and the range of application of light-emitting devices expanded. But still they were still far from economical lighting systems. They were mainly used for indication in electrical and radio devices. Positive qualities were low power consumption and durability.

LEDs of different colors and shapes

Advantages of LED lighting

Lighting with LED panels has become widely used with the appearance of LEDs with an efficiency of more than 50%, while an incandescent lamp produces 3.5-4% efficiency. Benefitsa uhthat lighting system:

  • low power consumption;
  • environmental friendliness;
  • service life of about 30,000 hours;
  • reliability;
  • unlimited number of on-off;
  • high light output;
  • wide operating range of ambient temperature;
  • small geometric dimensions;
  • the possibility of obtaining the desired radiation spectrum (red, yellow, green, white);
  • the ability to regulate the strength of the light flux;
  • low operating temperature.

There are many positive qualities, and they give an advantage over traditional incandescent lamps and an energy-saving fluorescent lamp.

LED lamp

How to make an LED lamp? It can be made from individual LEDs. To do this, you need piece emitting diodes. Connecting in series required amount, you can get the given power.

To protect against failure of the elements, the installation of a resistor is required, which will limit the current in the semiconductor circuit.

Regardless of the supply voltage of such a lamp, 220 V or 12 V from the car, the resistor is calculated so that the operating current does not exceed the passport values of the diode. After assembly and verification, you can embed the structure in the base of a conventional incandescent light bulb. A home-made LED lamp is no worse than a factory one, it even has an advantage - it is easy to fix it in case of failure to work, which cannot be said about factory products.

LED lights

Lamps in which the active element is an LED are called LED lamps. You can use an existing chandelier by inserting a semiconductor lamp into it, or you can make a do-it-yourself diode lampto use it to light your home. If you have the skills, you can make a lamp from an LED strip using the developed circuit diagrams .

LED strip for making a lamp

The tape is a set of LEDs, connected together properly in the factory. It can be cut in sections and connected in parallel and series circuits. A current limiting resistor is built into the circuit. The supply voltage is usually used 12, 24, 36 and 220 V.

By combining the number of sections, you can get the required illumination and power consumption. To connect to a 220 V network, you can assemble a voltage reduction circuit if you plan to use it to light a car ( for voltage 12V). When using a strip of LEDs for a voltage of 12V, special drivers are used, or it is worth spending time on making a home-made power supply device.

DIY lamp

You can design a ceiling, wall, floor or table lamp according to your taste and existing interior. You can use any improvised materials: from balloons to iron structures.

It is necessary to determine the type of LEDs used or the finished tape. If these are diodes - calculate right amount if the tape is the desired length.

These data will be needed to calculate the power consumption of the lamp.

LEDs are connected in series in 3-4 pieces, depending on the operating voltage of the diode, and a limiting resistor is placed in series with them to prevent the diode from burning out when the rated current is exceeded. If it is necessary to increase the luminous flux, another 2-3 such blocks are installed in parallel. So you can make a table lamp, and a lamp for a car.

The power consumption is known. One option is to purchase a driver. Its parameters should correspond to the consumption parameters of the luminaire or be slightly larger.

If the consumption parameters are greater than the driver parameters, it will fail and, quite likely, the LED structure itself will fail.

12 V power supply circuit

Transformer T1 with parameters: input voltage 220 V, output - 9-12 V. You can use a ready-made transformer from an old TV. The next element is the diode bridge D1-D4. In the presence of a free diode bridge from charger car, you can use it. The voltage for which the diodes are designed to operate must be above 12 V, and the rectification current must be greater than the current consumption of the LED lamp.

Element A1 - any voltage stabilizer with an operating current exceeding the current consumption of the lamp, and an output voltage of 12 V. All circuit elements are available at any radio parts store. You can assemble and solder the circuit using a soldering iron, fixing all the parts in a plastic case. Printed wiring here will be redundant, a hinged one is suitable in compliance with the rules of high-quality soldering.

The voltage of the input circuit is 220 V dangerous to human life. When working, you must follow the safety regulations.

After the installation is completed, you need to fix all the parts in the case and bring out two wires for connecting the input voltage and two for 12V. Be sure to mark the input wires with "+" and "-" outputs to prevent polarity reversal. From practice: the red wire means plus, the blue one means minus.

A do-it-yourself diode lamp for the home is made, it pleases the eye and saves energy.

Car lamp

The voltage of the car battery is 12 V. When the car is running at high speeds, the generator generates more voltage - 14-14.5 V. This is necessary to charge the car battery. This information is important to consider in order to collect energy saving lamp for auto.

Car underbody lighting LED strip

If you use an LED strip for this, then no additional circuit needs to be applied. Take a 12V tape, cut it to the required size and, observing the polarity, connect it to the car's network instead of a regular light bulb.

IP-20 open-type LED strips are used in rooms without high humidity. Tapes with IP-65 are most often used in the bathroom and working kitchen area, and devices with IP-68 are completely isolated from moisture, so they remain operational even in adverse outdoor conditions. In the direction of glow, all strip LEDs can be front and end.

A feature of the very popular and modern RGB LED strip is the ability to use a controller that allows you to get a monochrome glow or flash in different colors.

Types of LEDs used

To obtain a single-color LED strip, SMD-3028 and SMD-5050 diodes are used.

The second option is represented by three crystals, so it provides a brighter glow.

Also, the brightness indicators are affected by the number of light diodes per meter of the lighting tape.

The dimensions of the LEDs are reflected in the power level of the lighting fixture:

  • the presence of 30 SMD-5050 diodes in one meter - consumption of 7.2 watts;
  • the presence of 60 SMD-3528 diodes in one meter - consumption of 4.8 watts;
  • the presence of 60 SMD-5050 diodes in one meter - consumption of 14.4-15.0 watts;
  • the presence of 120 SMD-3528 diodes in one meter - power at the level of 9.6 watts;
  • the presence of 120 SMD-5050 diodes in one meter - power at the level of 25.0 watts;
  • the presence of 240 SMD-3528 diodes in one meter - power at the level of 19.2 watts.

Ribbons with chips that are placed in two, three or four rows are called multi-row and, as a rule, include diodes with different glow colors.

With the introduction of new connection standards, the performance of diodes different kind it can be provided both by a power supply unit at a direct current with a voltage level of 24V and 36V, and by an alternating current network with a voltage level of 220V.

What will be needed?

Due to its high flexibility, the LED strip lighting fixture can have a wide variety of formats. However, the basic principles for the manufacture of such a lamp are unchanged, therefore, in addition to the diode tape itself, the preparation of materials and basic tools is expected:

  • screws;
  • aluminum corner 10x10 mm;
  • small switch;
  • electric drill;
  • marker;
  • ruler;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • pliers.

If necessary, the aluminum corner can be replaced with a standard plastic electrical box. Functionality and the quality characteristics of the manufactured lighting device, in this case, will not be affected.

LED strips are rated for 12 volts. Therefore, it is a mandatory element for connecting the device.

Controllers, power supplies for LED strips

Installation and connection of a home-made lighting device based on a diode tape involves the use of a rectifier and an adapter.

The purpose of the controller, or adapter, is to convert 220V AC to 12V or 24V DC according to the power level of the tape.

To choose the right power supply for a homemade diode lamp, you need to multiply the power of the diodes of one meter of the tape by the length, and then add a power margin of at least 15% to the result.

Creating a multi-color lighting fixture with light switching and brightness control involves the use of a controller and a control panel.

Assembly process

The assembly option of the lighting device depends on its type. The device can be on legs, vertical or horizontal. The main stages of self-assembly of the most simple and common design are as follows:

  • measure the length of the box or corner;
  • drill mounting holes for screws in a corner or box, as well as a place to install a switch;
  • fix the corner at the place chosen for the installation of the lighting device;
  • install a switch in the sawn place;
  • solder wires to the diode tape;
  • degrease the surface with acetone;
  • install a diode tape on a corner or box;
  • connect the wires to the power supply or adapter;
  • check all connections.

Thus, a horizontal design is made, which is most often used as an effective illumination of the working area in the kitchen, countertops, desks, as well as a hanging shelf. Almost any materials that fit the interior of the room can serve as decor elements.

When choosing a place to install a diode lamp, you need to remember that the optimal height is 0.7-0.8 m from the illuminated surface. Only in this case it is possible to obtain maximum lighting efficiency.

For stretch ceiling

Diode-type luminaires, installed in the presence of stretch ceilings, are easily made by hand. Modern diode tapes are equipped with double-sided tape, so their installation around the perimeter stretch ceiling under a translucent film does not cause difficulties.

Stretch ceiling LED lighting

In order to correctly and reliably connect the LED strip to a power source or controller, it is advisable to give preference to stranded wires, on one side of which there are lugs with a cross section of 0.75 mm. During installation, the tips are installed inside the block, and fixed with screws.

It is important to remember that all wires soldered to the end of the diode tape need to be completely insulated with a special heat shrink tube, which will significantly increase the level of connection strength and make the operation of the lighting device safe.

For workplace lighting

A small lighting fixture based on a diode strip can be made using a ready-made housing.

The best option would be to use a failed fluorescent type lamp 30 cm long and an SMD-5050 diode tape with a light emission angle of 120º, a supply voltage of 12V and a current consumption of 1.2A / m.

After degreasing the inside of the case, the diode tape is fixed on double-sided tape.

The power supply can be factory-made or self-made. After connecting the diode strip to the unit, all connections and operability of the finished, very economical and high-quality lighting are checked. workplace, lighting device.

During the installation process, all current-conducting sections of the lamp must be carefully insulated, and the power supply must be neatly disguised in the case or securely fixed next to it.

Conclusion

When designing on your own, you need to remember that in addition to fairly simple diode strips, manufacturers of LED products produce products with more features, including special kits, through which quite complex dynamic effects are realized, as well as synchronization of simultaneous control of several lighting areas at once.
