iPhone 6 detailed characteristics. What to choose?: instead of conclusions

Steve Jobs once said that a 3.5-inch diagonal is optimal size You don't need more for a phone. A year ago, Apple already assured that 4 inches on the iPhone 5s is more than enough, clearly ignoring the trends in the growth of smartphone diagonals. And now, when no one can be surprised by the large diagonal of a smartphone, Apple makes a "revolution" and finally releases large phones with a diagonal of 4.7 and 5.5 inches (iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus).

4.7 inch Apple iPhone 6 is thin, its body thickness is only 6.9 mm, height and width are 138 × 67 mm, weight is 129 grams. It's really very compact, and it's still quite comfortable to use with one hand, although it's not the most portable on the market. New from the eternal competitor, Samsung Galaxy Alpha, is more compact in all respects with the same diagonal. You can compare the dimensions of the new iPhone with LG Nexus 5 - with a diagonal of almost 5 inches, its body dimensions are comparable to the Apple iPhone 6, but such a comparison is not very correct, since the Nexus 5 is much thicker (and cheaper). In general, the iPhone 6 is definitely compact, but you can’t call it a champion in size.

What is the reason? And the frame is to blame: the lower part remained unchanged, since there is the usual Home button, but the upper frame could be cut, it seems superfluous. But this did not happen, apparently, for the sake of the symmetry of the phone. The side bezels certainly don't seem thick, but there's potential for a "narrower" model here too.

Concerning appearance in general, then Apple designers decided to use the principle “new is well forgotten old”: iPhone 6 is very similar to iPod Touch. Unlike previous models, the iPhone 6, in addition to the large diagonal, received rounded edges, its power button moved from the top to the right side, and the round raised volume keys became oblong. But the mode switch button remained on the left side and did not undergo any changes. Note that all these innovations are very reminiscent of the design of a typical Android smartphone, although they are dictated by pragmatic requirements: the phone should lie as comfortably as possible in the hand (rounded shape), the power button can be pressed while holding the iPhone 6 with one hand (whether it was on top, it was would be uncomfortable to stretch).

The case, as usual, is a single piece of metal with plastic strips for antennas on the back. In our opinion, the stripes do not look very nice: on the iPhone 5S, the implementation of the space for the antennas seemed prettier to us. Separately, it should be said about the camera lens - it rises slightly above the surface of the case, which is a little disturbing when using an iPhone. Probably, many expected that the iPhone 6 will receive protection from water and dust, but this did not happen. Build quality is predictably high. The case of the Apple iPhone 6, despite various rumors and disputes, is durable, the smartphone does not creak or bend during daily use. By the way, the case passed tests for flexibility by independent experts ConsumerReports, in which it outperformed a strong . By the way, for those who are interested in seeing the strength tests of the new iPhone 6, there is another interesting video.

Performance - 4.2

The Apple iPhone 6 uses a new 64-bit dual-core A8 processor running at up to 1.4GHz along with an M8 motion co-processor and 1GB of RAM. The coprocessor in this case is responsible for processing data from the sensors of the smartphone, and the new processor, according to the company, has become much faster. In general, the characteristics of the processor, the amount of RAM on the iPhone 6 cause a slight stupefaction: it seems that we have some kind of budget Android smartphone, but no, this is Apple's flagship.

In this case, it is important to understand that the games available in the App Store were created for the iPhone, so there should not be performance or compatibility problems, as is often the case with Android devices. As our tests have shown, the results of the Apple iPhone 6 in daily use are excellent. In synthetic tests, the iPhone 6 also showed decent results. It scored 2,920 on GeekBench 3 cross-platform benchmark and 17,444 on 3DMark's Ice Storm Unlimited benchmark, comparable to the LG G3's score of 16,711. samsung galaxy S5 (18,231) or LG Nexus 5 (17,827). And if you remember about the “modest” two cores, the “low” frequency of 1.4 GHz and “only” 1 GB, against the quad-core “monsters” with frequencies from two-plus-GHz and a bunch of GB of RAM, then the result of the Apple iPhone 6 more than impressive.

Memory - 5.0

Options for the total amount of built-in memory of the Apple iPhone 6: 16 Gb, 64 Gb and 128 Gb. It was decided not to release the version with 32 Gb: apparently, they decided to simplify the choice for the consumer. You can't count on a memory card: as usual, the iPhone does not have a slot for a memory card, and it will not be possible to increase the initial amount of flash memory. Therefore, it is worth thinking about it properly, it makes sense to immediately fork out for more memory. Against the backdrop of many Android smartphones, which often have a microSD card slot, this looks like a drawback. But at the same time, a very rare Android smartphone can immediately boast 128 Gb of internal memory. In addition, you are offered 5 Gb of iCloud storage for free, and you can increase the amount for an additional fee. Apple assures that storing data in iCloud is safe, but as you probably remember, shortly before the presentation of the Apple iPhone 6, photos from iCloud were leaked. Although it is more likely to be associated with a targeted attack on specific accounts, and not with a hacking of the cloud service as a whole.

Peculiarities

A typical feature of the Apple iPhone 6 is the atypical Lightning connector, instead of a USB connector, as on most portable devices, and the need to use iTunes to download any data to the smartphone. Also, a feature of the Apple iPhone 6 is the excellent optimization and combination of the "stuffing" and the operating system. As a result, the consumer receives the most balanced device that works stably and quickly. One of the "revolutionary" features is the Apple Pay payment system, which works with NFC and is expected to be launched in the US in October. True, the system does not function in Russia and the prospects for its operation in our country are still very vague.

The iPhone 6, like the iPhone 5s, has a Touch ID sensor - a fingerprint scanner. His work did not cause any complaints from us, he recognizes the "owner" without any problems. Using your finger, you can unlock your smartphone, as well as buy applications and music without password authorization.

Competitors

For August, 2015 Apple iPhone 6 can be bought at the price of 47,000 rubles. The main competitors of the iPhone 6, based on its characteristics and price, are the Samsung Galaxy S5, Sony Xperia Z3 and, given the same diagonal, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha.

Like a year earlier, the first two Android smartphones are not as comfortable to use in one hand due to the larger diagonal and weight. You can’t say the same about the Samsung Galaxy Alpha: it’s lighter, at the same, shorter and even a little thinner than the Apple iPhone 6. It seems that it was released as a potential competitor to the latest "apple" smartphone. In terms of body materials, Apple iPhone 6 is a clear leader: all-metal body against glass on Sony Xperia Z3 and plastic Samsung Galaxy S5. There was only hope for the Samsung Galaxy Alpha: many believed that it would be the first metal Samsung smartphone. However, the miracle did not happen - there is only a metal frame on the sides in it, everything else, as always, is made of plastic. At the same time, the Apple iPhone 6 for some reason did not receive water protection, unlike the Xperia Z3 and Galaxy S5.

All three competitors run on the Android OS, which is both a disadvantage and an advantage compared to the iPhone 6. Android smartphones are always easy to connect to a computer and upload any data to them. At the same time, the owner of the Apple iPhone 6 does not need to once again think about compatibility with applications from the App Store or worry about the speed of the phone. If you don’t mind putting up with the “closeness” of iOS in favor of speed, then you can safely choose the iPhone 6. If you plan to often upload movies, documents or any data from your computer to your phone and vice versa, then it’s better to choose Samsung Galaxy Alpha, Sony Xperia Z3 or Samsung Galaxy S5.

The Galaxy S5 and Xperia Z3 displays outperform the Apple iPhone 6 only in terms of pixel density, which many people find excessive. Galaxy Alpha has a lower resolution, 1280 × 720 pixels, but, like the Galaxy S5, it offers a Super AMOLED display that will provide viewing angles and brightness no worse than on the iPhone 6. Whether it’s better or not, we’ll see when we buy a smartphone on tests, after all, such displays are a little fib with color reproduction, most likely, it will turn out to be worse than the display on the iPhone 6.

Let's see what the next generation will offer - whose presentation will take place next year.

Apple introduced in September 2014 improved iPhone models in two versions: the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, distinguished by the outer diagonal, as well as the filling. The owners of almost 10 million new flagships became his fans in the first days of rush sales. What are the chips behind the price, what's new in the iPhone 6, what are the disadvantages of the iphone 6, is it worth taking a smartphone and what advantages will we get in return by changing the iPhone 5S.

Consider the description of the characteristics in iPhone 6, appreciating all the pros and cons of the iPhone 6 and specifications. To the question: is it worth buying the iPhone 6, many users will find it difficult to answer, but, having familiarized themselves with its capabilities, they will get the right idea about this device.

Overall, the classic 7mm aluminum body of the smartphone looks good, elegant and ultra-thin, the edges are rounded, unlike the previous version of the iPhone 5 and 5S. This time, the weight of the smartphone in the iPhone 6 model reached 129 grams, while its larger version of the iPhone 6 plus weighed 172 grams. The exact dimensions of the case are 67×138.1×6.9 mm. It is equipped with a 3.5 mm audio jack for headphones and a microphone, and is equipped with an 8-pin Lightning connector that can be connected on both sides, allowing only digital signals to be transmitted. The power button is now located on the side face, unlike the previous version, in which the button was on top.

The color scheme of the iPhone 6 cases is represented by three options: space gray, silver and gold.

Many people prefer to choose a silver case because it is not painted than others, its coating is natural aluminum with a transparent coating, which is more practical to protect against possible scratches. All cases of the new Apple iPhone 6 and 6 plus have a special anodized finish, with a deep penetrating color. Therefore, smartphones will be able to maintain a good appearance for a long time. Based on appearance, Apple 6S phones and i Phone 6 complement each other in all respects.

iPhone 6 screen

The built-in HD display on the Retina Multi-Touch platform of the iPhone 6 has a fairly widescreen diagonal of two options 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches, equipped with IPS technology and LED backlighting, ensuring the screen is clear even in bright daylight. Compared to its predecessor, the entire screen in the sixth version has been solidly upgraded to 4.7 inches: 1334×750 (326 ppi), with an aspect ratio of 16:9, and has received the new name "Retina HD". In the six, the characteristic was preserved, as well as the quality of the glass - tempered, although the idols expected the appearance of an unusual version of the screen made of synthetic sapphire glass.

iPhone 6S features a large screen size with a new high resolution, but with the same pixel density as the predecessor iPhone 5 and 5s. In the new six, the developers added a fingerprint identification sensor built into the Home button, which protected its owner from theft. The Apple-manufactured cellular iPhone 6 has a maximum camera view.

Capacitive MultiTouch for two touches will provide nimble control of its functions.

iOS 8 operating system and its features

Apple solved the problems of iPhone 6 by equipping it with a rather powerful A8 processor with an improved frequency of 1.4 GHz, which provides a variety of user tasks, and 64-bit architecture allows you to become the owner of new advanced smartphone features. The latest iOS operating system from Apple has been mastered on these models. To ensure good communication, the Quaicomm architecture (WTR1625L transceiver + WFR1620 receiver) is installed on the IPhone 6, and instead of the iPhone 5, which supports various LTE frequencies, the main smartphones iPhone 6 A1586 and A1549 are now released.

For ease of use, the iPhone 6S has a “Reachability” gesture that allows you to recognize with which you can move down the entire top of the smartphone screen with two taps of the Home button.

iPhone 6 smartphones have acquired the NFG interface. Now they can make contactless payments using the Apple Pay system. In turn, Apple Pay wireless payment can be made without unlocking the smartphone itself. To know how to distinguish the owner, the user's finger scanner option is set. In fact, the iPhone 6 replaced the benefits of a payment card with this feature.

Camera and other multimedia features Apple iPhone 6

This time, Apple has loaded the smartphone with an 8-megapixel camera equipped with a 5-lens lens that allows you to stand and shoot 1080p video. Although the smartphone of the six did not surprise with the rear camera, however, the sensor was significantly updated in it, as well as the f / 2.2 lens. Video capture is achieved at 30 or 60 frames per second (in slow-mo 120/240). But the iPhone 6 Plus camera has succeeded in improving the image stabilization of the optics.

iPhone 6's camera can do it all with amazing Focus Pixels and superb autofocus. Thanks to this, the video shoots in HD format with a resolution of up to 720 pixels. The iPhone 6's 8MP camera is also good at 1.5µm, which increases the camera's ability to capture more light as well as excellent image quality in low-light situations. The 1.2 MP front camera can transmit video up to 720p.

The desired sound of the Apple iPhone 6 is achieved thanks to the built-in speaker.

iPhone 6 Battery

A serious improvement was the performance of the iPhone battery, the capabilities of which reached the performance of its functioning: in standby mode - 250 hours, in talk mode - up to 14 hours of work, which will undoubtedly please the consumer and allow you to enjoy communication every day without exaggeration. Inveterate Internet users will be pleased with the increased length of the time in the 3G network, and in the LTE network up to 10 hours, since the capacity of the iPhone 6 has no drawbacks.

The ability of the smartphone to continuously operate a Wi-Fi network has been achieved up to 11 hours of operation. Many people ask if the iPhone can play music or video for a long time. The ability of the iPhone 6 to provide musical accompaniment to the user has been extended to 50 hours. Now the smartphone will be discharged only when listening to music after two days. The new memory processor in the iPhone 6 perceives positively. This performance and features of the iPhone 6 allow the flagship to hold the bar high.

In addition, the iPhone 6's continuous video playback time has reached up to 11 hours in a row, which could not be achieved with the previous version of the 5S.

Connectivity Apple iPhone 6

Mobile phone six iPhone 6 supports standard 3G, 4G LTE, LTE-A Cat. 4, VoLTE3G and GSM 900/1800/1900 as well as MMS functions. And also has the function of voice control and dialing. Sometimes users complain about a communication failure and the device of the iPhone 6 phone. This is most likely due to the fact that sometimes the normal operation of the iPhone six is disrupted by external metal cases, more often with a magnetic mount, so it is hardly worth using such accessories.

The iPhone 6 accepts Nano-SIM SIM cards, which, unfortunately, does not work with existing Micro-SIM SIM cards. Now you have to change the SIM card from the telecom operator to a nano-SIM card. The IEEE 802.11ac maximum throughput standard has adopted the iPhone 6 Wi-Fi module, which is 433 Mbps at the usual rate.

Apple iPhone 6 memory

Apple's flagship technology made it possible to install the eighth iSO on a smartphone on a 2-core processor with a 64-bit architecture, which realized itself on the models presented with different amounts of internal memory. Now the buyer will be able to determine for himself what volumes he will become the owner of: 128 GB, 64 GB or 16 GB. In any case, the price of a smartphone will vary accordingly in ascending order.

Many are concerned about the question: how much RAM is in the iPhone 6. But this time the company has not changed these characteristics, since the RAM of the iPhone 6 model has remained at the same level and is 1 GB.

It is impossible not to dwell on another novelty of the presented iPhone 6 models from Chipworks - accelerometers. Now smarts have become owners of two accelerometers - a three-axis Bosch BMA280 and a six-axis InvenSense MPU-6700, while performing their functions independently of each other in an energy-saving mode. The old iPhone model boasted only one three-axis accelerometer. Accordingly, the power consumption of the smartphone has been reduced to a minimum, which has improved the duration of its operation to a new advanced level.

Apple experts took into account the previous performance of the InvenSense accelerometer, which has the ability to recognize the iPhone 6, allowing you to act at the same time different modes, but having high sensitivity and consuming much more power than, for example, a Bosch accelerator, which does not need high sensitivity to switch from different modes.

Navigation in Apple iPhone 6

In turn, Yandex updated mobile app Yandex Navigator. In addition to the usual bug fixes, the update is now supported on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. new version navigator can be downloaded from the App Store, the user manual is also downloadable.

Compatible with 4.7- and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus displays allows you to install Yandex.Navigator with version 1.62. The new program is perfectly optimized for the released versions of iPhone displays of this version. Based on screen enhancements, the user interface of the new navigator has been enhanced to a high definition.

In addition, now the language support of the navigator is available in Russian, Ukrainian, English, Turkish and no longer depends on the settings of the operating system. Thanks to the functionality of the navigator, you can, using voice control offline, without being distracted from driving a car, pave the way home or to work using the Yandex map. In addition, all laid paths are stored in the iPhone's memory and work in the future without access to the Web.

The iPhone 6 is equipped with a digital compass that can be used with respect to any magnetic poles of the Planet and help the device navigate in space. This information necessary when compiling cartographic programs for smartphones to enable the user to navigate the terrain.

Multimedia features iPhone 6

Since the iPhone 6 has a great screen resolution and advanced Retina display with 2048×1536 pixels, the iPhone 6 can be connected as a set-top box to your TV. At the same time, the quality on the home TV screen will be of the highest quality HD. Usually TVs have Full HD resolution, and the iPhone 6 will be able to display high-quality movies, videos and games with enough color. So, by connecting the device to a TV using a special Digital AV adapter, your iPhone will be able to replace the video collection and the usual game console.

In addition, the iPhone 6 is equipped with a gyroscope, which is responsible for determining the smartphone's orientation in space, as well as a barometer, which, using a sensor built into the iPhone, analyzes the movement of the smartphone owner in the external environment and determines the air pressure, which is very important for travelers and people. vulnerable to pressure drop.

The built-in light sensor in the iPhone 6 allows its owner to save battery consumption when talking by reducing the backlight of the screen.

Also, the smartphone is equipped with Bluetooth 4.0, speakerphone, as well as applications: a voice recorder, a calculator, a music player with a listening function and a program for recognizing different songs, Siri voice assistant, iCloud Drive cloud storage, App Store programs, iTunes Store, Apple Watch, FaceTime and others. .

The iPhone 6 package includes, to the delight of its owner, Headphones equipped with a microphone and a remote control from the Apple EarPods brand, a USB cable and a power adapter.

Focal length

Focal length indicates the distance in millimeters from the sensor to the optical center of the lens. The equivalent focal length (35mm) is the focal length of a mobile device camera that is equal to the focal length of a 35mm full frame sensor that would achieve the same angle of view. It is calculated by multiplying the actual focal length of the mobile device's camera by the crop factor of its sensor. The crop factor can be defined as the ratio between the 35mm diagonals of a full-frame sensor and a mobile device sensor.

Apple has a practice of releasing a line of its smartphones in pairs or modifications, the difference between which can be traced in technical data and geometry. This trend started with the 3 Series (3G and 3GS) and continues to this day, reflected in the iPhone 6 and 6s. In this article, we will try to figure out how one gadget resembles or, on the contrary, qualitatively differs from another.

background

Each series mobile phones from Apple has its own distinctive features and models labeled iPhone 6 or 6s are no exception. The presentation of the first took place in the first half of September 2014, and the second - a year later. Without changing the tradition, the event was led by the head of the company, Tim Cook. No less expected was the very content of the presentation, which said almost nothing about the technical side of the issue. On the contrary, all attention was focused not on the gadget itself, but on what its owner gets as a result, how his lifestyle and work will change.

If you do not go deep into the technical characteristics of gadgets, then the eighth and ninth generation of smartphones can be proud of at least two revolutionary solutions for Apple:

  • Firstly, gadget geometry. All previous series of phones from the North American brand had a virtually rectangular shape with rounded four corner edges. In iPhone 6 and above, there are no sharp corners left - all contour edges are rounded.
  • Secondly, in terms of marketing, the bet is on the dual model of the iPhone, for example, 6 and 6 Plus. A similar principle applies to generation 6s. Basic and "plus" smartphones are gadgets identical in characteristics. The only thing that distinguishes them from each other within the same series is the size of the diagonal of the screen: for the base model it is 4.7 ʺ, while for the Plus it is 5.5 ʺ. Accordingly, the resolution is also increased, but in all other respects it is an identical device.

Both the eighth and ninth generation of Apple smartphones showed excellent sales figures, but outwardly they can be confused, since the main differences are inside the device.

Geometry and appearance

If we analyze this aspect in the company's policy, then it is quite expected that there are a minimum of external differences between the iPhone 6 and 6s, which are sometimes difficult to determine at first glance. However, a number of highlights can still be distinguished:

Dimensions, as you can see, remained the same (with a few exceptions), but the weight of the phone has increased from 129 to 143 g for the base model, and from 172 to 192 g for the "plus". This increase in weight, however, did not positively affect the battery capacity. In the new model, on the contrary, it decreased by almost 100 mAh to 1715 mAh.

Screen changes

Formally, little has changed in this regard, and the screen of the new series received almost the same characteristics as its predecessor. The only really big difference is the new TouchID sensor technology, namely 3D Touch. it further development MultiTouch, which has not evolved since its introduction in 2003.

Its main feature is the control of functions depending on the force of pressure on the screen. If, for example, the camera icon is pressed a little harder, a dialog box will appear with options for instant actions (photo, video, selfie, slow motion video). A similar approach is implemented for other applications (Twitter, Instagram, Dropbox, Facebook, Curious, etc.).

Performance and Resources

As mentioned above, the main Honors iPhone 6 from6s is the hardware part that is inside the gadget. To evaluate the indicators, various test applications were used, which showed the following results:

  • Geekbench 3 - 2533/4339 points for the ninth generation versus 1567/2747 for the eighth;
  • AnTuTu Benchmark - 59267 vs 49131;
  • 3D Mark - 27795 vs 17118.

The interface began to work much smoother, more comfortable. This is felt when the RAM is too cluttered. The hardware is really powerful, as even 4K video is processed without problems in real time.

The amount of RAM has been doubled - from 1 to 2 GB. It uses the new A9 dual-core processor clocked at 2x1.8 GHz compared to the A8 and its 2x1.38 GHz on the iPhone 6.

Camera

Unlike the previous model, the new iPhone 6s easily shoots 4K video at 30 frames per second. In the previous series, such a video could only be obtained as a result of the formation of several photographs. A new feature came along with a powerful stream processor.

The changes also affected the resolution of the cameras. At the rear, it increased from 8 to 12 MP, and at the front, from 1.2 to 5 MP. The dynamic range of the sensor is significantly expanded, which allows you to catch and highlight semitones and individual details with high quality.

Also, the new camera has a LivePhotos function, which, when activated, shoots a small video during the picture. Unfortunately, you can view it only on the iPhone 6s - third-party applications have not yet been developed.

Data exchange

The new iPhone 6s has an updated Wi-Fi wireless access module, as well as a 4G / LTE module. Thanks to better technical specifications and a more powerful processor, the data exchange process is accelerated.

As seen, new smartphone Apple is still different from the previous one, mainly in terms of hardware and performance. Therefore, initially it makes sense to buy a new model, but whether it is worth making an exchange to the owners of the previous one is a moot point.

Although the new Apple iPhone 6 is significantly larger than each of the previous ones, it is still a reasonable size. If you have previously used an iPhone and are not sure what you want big smartphone, the iPhone 6 will still fit perfectly.

Phone Apple iPhone 6 - Reviews

After years of avoiding large sizes screen, Apple finally succumbed to pressure from competitors and released two large iPhones. The new Apple iPhone 6 is even smaller than the competition, but still significantly larger than the 4-inch iPhone 5S. The question is, how will Apple phone users who have never touched a phablet react to the iPhone 6?

The first thing you'll notice about the iPhone 6 is the obvious thing- he is more. It seems like Apple cares about how you feel about the new iPhone, and the company's devices always fit perfectly in any hand size. Part of the success for this belongs to the slightly rounded design.

The iPhone 5S feels much larger in the hand than the iPhone 6. We found it to be also slipperier due to slightly rounded edges, though not as slippery as the HTC One M8.

The screen is slightly curved in the body of the phone, helping to create the illusion of a perfect monolith.

In terms of appearance, the dimensions of the iPhone 6 look like the Moto X 2014, which has a 5.2-inch screen. Ironically, the huge top and bottom bezels are the same size as the Moto X, although the bullseye has a smaller 4.7-inch screen. On the this moment, it's a waste of space, but Apple attributes this to the home button, which has a Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

The power button has now moved to the right side, and it aligns nicely with our index fingers or thumb. The new position makes it much easier to control when turning the phone on and off.

Apple iPhone 6 camera

The camera sticks out a little from the back of the device, but it's not too noticeable. It is much closer to the edge of the phone, so you have to be careful not to block the lens when taking pictures when holding the phone horizontally.

The only real complaint about the design of the iPhone 6 is the rather odd stripes on the back, as the lines look a little sloppy to the casual eye.

iOS 8 looks and works almost exactly like iOS 7, but with a few minor changes. Sorry, HealthKit is currently unavailable. The HealthKit app is not intuitively easy to use, and the lack of compatible apps due to a bug in the system only exacerbated the problem.

One of the new features is the ability to add third-party keyboards. Because the iPhone 6's screen is much larger, it's easier to use smartphone features, so your fingers have more room to maneuver.

Unfortunately, the iPhone 6 doesn't have a landscape mode, so when you tilt your phone horizontally, nothing happens with compatible apps.

Another UI issue on the iPhone 6 was that many apps hadn't yet been updated to use the new, pixelated screen resolution in iOS 8. Thanks to the scaling, you won't see annoying black, dead space - it's very a good thing, but older apps look a little blurry. Of course, when developers update their applications, this problem will disappear.

Apple iPhone 6 specifications

The Apple iPhone 6 has minor hardware upgrades, but the iPhone 6's 4.7-inch screen size has the same 326 ppi pixel density as the 5S. It has a higher contrast ratio which makes its colors brighter and a bit richer.

There's a new 64-bit A8 processor, along with 1GB of RAM, and a new M8 motion coprocessor. As you can see, the specifications of the iPhone 6 have been improved, so it loads websites faster than the iPhone 5, and YouTube video in streaming mode a little faster on the 6th version.

Extra $100 for the 64 GB version is a steal

In terms of connectivity, the iPhone 6 has 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and finally NFC, although it's limited. The smartphone also has Wi-Fi calling networks such as T-Mobile and VoLTE.

We were very disappointed that Apple didn't make the iPhone 6 waterproof, especially now that it's becoming a standard feature on Android smartphones. However, the most annoying thing about the iPhone 6 was that Apple refused to increase the minimum storage option, from 16GB to 32GB. Today, 16 GB is just too little for the average user. Most people will probably shell out for an extra $100 for the 64GB version - we think that's just a rip-off. The lack of a memory card and microSD slot is also disappointing, although not surprising.

The new Apple iPhone 6 still gets hot when you watch videos or download tons of updates and apps at once.

Camera focusing on details

While the new smartphone has the same 8-megapixel camera on the back as the iPhone 5, the iPhone 6's photos are sharper and clearer. Colors also look richer and focus light colors in the photo, does not bleach the colors, like many.

As we said earlier in this review, the camera module protrudes from the body and is positioned closer to the edge of the phone. We involuntarily touched the lens from time to time when taking landscape photos.

Photo from iPhone 6

The iPhone 6 shoots 1080p video at 30 or 60 frames per second. Thanks to iOS 8, iPhone 6 also has a time-lapse video feature that speeds up and allows you to get more crystal clear video.

Calls and data rates

As expected, the network data transfer speed is very fast, but it depends on the operator. You can even watch streaming YouTube videos without any hitches or buffering.

Battery in Apple iPhone 6

Since we haven't been able to thoroughly test the iPhone 6 yet, we can't tell you how the iPhone 6's battery performs after a full day of use, but we do know that its 1,810mAh battery is slightly more powerful than 1,560mAh in 5S.

Outcome

Our cursory review of the Apple iPhone 6 showed that the smartphone may not be a revolutionary device, as there is no point in denying that Android smartphones are superior in many ways, but this phone still holds its own among best smartphones 2014.

All in all, the Apple iPhone 6 is a modest update to the iPhone 5S. The screen size and the new thin, rounded design are big changes here. For Android users, these features are old, but for iPhone users, this is a huge change.
