How to glue non-woven wallpaper in the corners. Preparation of the adhesive solution. Pasting difficult areas

AT modern world There are many types of wallpaper that differ from each other in pattern, colors, width, quality, material used. Not so long ago, meter-wide wallpapers of foreign origin appeared on the world market. Meter canvases are on non-woven, paper, bamboo, fabric basis. They have some advantages over the classic ones - fewer joints, creating a "seamless" effect, reducing the effort, time and costs.

Rolls of meter-long wallpaper are distributed in large quantities on the shelves, they are more relevant and convenient than standard-width wallpapers. Their only drawback over the classic ones is that it is more difficult to adjust the number of sheets. The problem is that people are used to gluing wallpapers that are 53 centimeters wide, and using wider ones is extremely unusual. With the help of this article, you will understand how to properly glue a meter-wide wallpaper, and whether it can be done alone.

I suggest that you familiarize yourself with the tips, following which you can avoid mistakes in the process of work and make repairs correctly:

The process of wallpapering can be divided into stages: preparation necessary materials and fixtures, preparing walls for gluing, preparing glue, marking, cutting meter-long wallpaper, as well as the gluing process itself.

Materials and tools

In the process of work you will need:

  • masking tape;
  • plumb;
  • wide brush;
  • roller or spatula;
  • tape measure or centimeter;
  • clean rag or sponge;
  • pencil.

In addition to all of the above, you may need sandpaper, putty and a primer if there are significant irregularities on the surfaces.

Wall preparation

Remove covers from sockets and switches, seal the holes with masking tape and remove nails, screws, self-tapping screws from the walls, if any. After that, you can start removing old wallpaper and removing bumps.

When the surface is cleaned, you can start processing it. Clean them up with sandpaper. If there are significant irregularities, use putty to eliminate them, and then apply one or two coats of primer.

Attention! You can start applying glue to the wall only after the primer has completely dried.

Be sure to watch the video on how to prepare the walls for pasting:

Glue preparation

The glue you choose should match the type of wallpaper you have. For its proper preparation, pour water into the container and pour the dry mixture into it in a thin stream, while not forgetting to mix in a circle. Let the mixture sit for a while. Usually it does not exceed twenty minutes.

Wall marking

Due to the fact that meter-long wallpapers are glued end-to-end, their gluing can be started from anywhere. You can decide for yourself where it will be more convenient for you to glue and where to start in order to spend less material. To glue the first strip evenly, mark a vertical line from which you will glue. To do this, use a plumb line and a pencil.

Cutting of canvases

Experts advise leaving ten centimeters above and below the sheet as a margin. After the glue dries, they can be easily removed. Carry out cutting on a clean, dry surface. Roll out a roll of wallpaper face down, measure the required length, make a notch, bend the canvas and cut it along the fold line.

Wall and corner wrapping

Mix the adhesive solution again, start applying it with a wide brush to the area that will occupy the sheet. Attach the pre-prepared strip to the area smeared with glue, and then smooth it from top to bottom and from the center to the edges. Pick up excess glue with a dry cloth. The second should be glued back to back with the previous one. If your meter-long wallpaper has a pattern, make sure it matches.

Important! When gluing, a draft should not be allowed to appear in the room.

I want to draw your attention to pasting in hard-to-reach places, that is, behind radiators, in corners, doorways, in areas with sockets, switches, etc. To properly glue the surfaces behind the battery, cut the wallpaper into such strips that you will be comfortable using. When gluing the strip near a socket or switch, apply the adhesive and then apply the wallpaper itself. After drying, make a cut of the desired size, remove the excess and screw the protective boxes from sockets and switches into place. Do not glue from the corner if it is uneven. You will need to draw a reference line in advance. This will avoid distortion of the picture.

There are two options for gluing in the corners. You can choose one of them:

Pasting to one

If you do not have an assistant during pasting, do not despair. You can deal with sticking meter-long wallpapers on your own if you buy non-woven ones, because then the glue needs to be applied only to the wall. You can easily cope with joining seams, especially in corners, and leveling the strip. If you didn’t manage to paste the sheet correctly the first time, then one plus of wide wallpaper will help you out here. The sheet can be removed and reattached to the wall, and the dense material of the wallpaper will allow this to be done without damaging their structure. If you have chosen meter-long wallpapers from other materials, then it is best to glue them with an assistant.

Successful repair and creative approach.

"Repair cannot be completed, it can only be stopped!", M. Zhvanetsky wrote in one of his miniatures. Is everything so bad? How to glue meter-long wallpapers on your own so that neither the quality of work, nor relationships in the family suffer, and the repair would not drag on for centuries? Let's figure it out.

1 Wallpaper meter - a sign of the new time

Wallpaper replacement has always been a common thing in our family. Everyone participated: someone took out excess furniture, someone cleared the walls of old paper panels, someone marked and cut what should come to replace them. Then they started spreading the paste, pasting, combining patterns, etc. This is where things got interesting. It could not do without mutual claims: either the leaves and flowers do not converge, then the overlap is small, then large, or even not enough in length. It's no joke, with a standard width of Soviet wallpaper of 53 cm, on the walls of an 18-meter room it was necessary to cut and glue more than 30 canvases 2.5 m long.

Today, a lot has changed, including in the field of apartment renovation. Foreign manufacturers, whose products are now in abundance on our market, offer many options for wallpaper, and this applies not only to colors, patterns, materials from which they are made, but also to the length and width of the panels. So, for example, the Italians today produce rolls of 106 cm and 70 cm, the Belgians - 90, 100, 140, the French - 70 and 90 cm. Our enterprises still keep the standard of 53 cm.

Specialists involved in the wallpaper business have long dubbed overseas specimens as non-standard, wide or simply meter-long wallpapers. Neither give nor take such a sign of the new time.

For the most part, wide wallpapers have a non-woven base. However, there are also paper, bamboo, fabric ones. Meter canvases can be light, heavy, for each type you need to select the required type of glue indicated by the manufacturer on the package. Please note that if you have not achieved perfection in wall pasting, then you cannot purchase glue that hardens in a few minutes, this is only for professional craftsmen.

2 How to glue meter wallpaper - the pros and cons

If you decide to update the wallpaper in the room, then, first of all, try to approach the choice of a new home design as responsibly as possible. Of course, there are a lot of outlets now, but it would be better to go all the same to places where there will be an opportunity to view the banner on a special stand in expanded form and from a great distance. It's no secret that in a roll and on a wall, as they say in Odessa, these are two big differences!

By the way, remember that vertical stripes visually increase the height of your room, while horizontal stripes seem to push the walls apart. So be careful and be careful again! It is better to weigh and count again before buying this or that type of wallpaper.

If we talk about the positive aspects of wide rolls, then the main one is a significant reduction in the number of seams, due to which a so-called "seamless" effect is created. How is it achieved, you ask? The answer is simple: if the mentioned 18-meter room needed 30 and a half standard half-meter canvases, then the wide ones would need to be half as many - there will also be fewer joints, which means they will not be so conspicuous.

It is probably unnecessary to say that applying glue to 15-16 tapes will take significantly less time than the same operation with three dozen. Yes, and in terms of the cost of physical strength, this is incomparable. And the procedure for pasting walls with such panels, in general, is no different. And, by the way, many who decide to make repairs, for sure, will be attracted by the moment that meter-long wallpapers, as it turned out, are able to save money on your budget. The fact is that in most cases one wide roll is still cheaper than two standard 50-cm ones. In addition, non-woven wallpaper will also be the most durable.

It would be dishonest to you, having talked about the advantages, to keep silent about the difficulties of working with meter-long canvases. But they still exist. So, wide wallpapers assume that they are glued to perfectly flat surfaces, since any flaws, irregularities will not allow you to achieve perfect joining of adjacent canvases. Namely, this, I recall, is their main "seamless" plus. But in principle, this is solvable, since there are more than enough options.

The large width of the roll is fraught with another danger - you may not have enough of the last full tape with a width of just a couple of centimeters. Collect a fragment from pieces? This is hardly the way out. You have to buy a whole roll. With standard rolls, it is easier to adjust the number of panels to the width of the walls. Well, and one more thing, which, however, can only be called a minus with a stretch. It is quite difficult to glue meter wallpapers alone. You will definitely need an assistant. I don’t know about you, but for our family this is not a question - we also glued Soviet standard wallpapers with four hands, so we have worked out this moment.

3 How to glue non-woven meter wallpaper - step by step instructions

If the choice of material for pasting the walls has already been made, then we get to work. Let's repeat it again: before gluing non-woven wallpaper meter wide, it is necessary to carefully level the surface, because the flaws of the walls will not allow the canvases to be joined qualitatively.

How to glue non-woven meter wallpaper - step by step diagram

Step 1: Surface preparation

True, we note that non-woven fabric, due to its features (thickness and softness), is still able to hide the smallest irregularities. Old wallpapers, even from ideal walls, need to be removed, if they don’t give in, then wet them, and the paper will give in. If the wall is rough after processing, this is even good - the connection of the wall, glue and canvas will be better.

Step 2: Remove drafts

Remember that for pasting walls with any wallpaper, the temperature regime is important, and the absence of drafts until completely dry is a guarantee that the joints will not disperse, the canvases will not “bubble” and they will not be led. This may take a day, or maybe three.

Step 3: Turn off the light, remove everything superfluous

Before starting work, do not forget to turn off the electricity in the room being repaired, remove the top covers of sockets and switches. When the wallpaper is dry, you will cut the canvas in the right places crosswise and return the covers to their original places. You should also remove all fasteners, screws, nails, dowels from the walls for a while.

Step 4: Prepare the Glue

We take up the preparation of glue, which, as you remember, must necessarily correspond to the type of wallpaper you have chosen. In the vessel in which you are going to dilute it, pour water and, shaking in a circle, pour glue in a thin stream. After thoroughly mixing the mass, let it brew - the required period and other features will be indicated on the package. Usually it is 15 minutes.

Step 5: Marking the Wall

As with any wallpaper, experts recommend starting to paste over the walls from the window. Although in the case of meter rolls and non-woven, in particular, due to the fact that they are glued end-to-end, you can start from where it will be more convenient and economical for you in terms of material consumption. To evenly glue the first fragment, use a plumb line, ruler and pencil to draw a perfectly vertical line, from which you will start pasting.

Step 6: Cut the canvases

Are you ready to cut the required length of web from the roll? Leave a reserve on the ceiling and floor sides - 10 cm is enough. When the wallpaper is dry, you can cut off everything superfluous with a sharp clerical knife. And when pasting, if it suddenly turns out that you need to move the canvas up or down, you will have such an opportunity, since non-woven wallpaper allows you to do this within 10 minutes.

Step 7: Getting Started with Pasting

If all the preparatory stages are completed - for the cause! Thoroughly mix the glue again and apply it with a wide brush to that part of the wall where, according to the markings, the first tape will go. As you know, non-woven fabrics are not lubricated with glue, and therefore, together with a partner, carefully apply dry wallpaper to the right place and proceed to smooth the fabric. This work is traditionally done from the top down and from the center to the edges. It is convenient to use a special roller for this, and pick up excess glue along the edges with a damp cloth. We glue the second canvas as close as possible and attach it with an edge. If necessary, we connect the drawing. Repeat this operation the prescribed number of times, and the job will be done.

Step 8: Taping awkward spots

Special attention should be given pasting the so-called uncomfortable places. We are talking about corners, openings and behind radiators. Nothing complicated, it just takes a little more time. The fabric is glued so that it is slightly on the corner wall. On the other wall with the second tape do the same. Then, using a ruler and a sharp knife, a vertical incision is made through these canvases. Raising the edges, remove the excess parts of the wallpaper, and, having smeared the junction with additional glue, apply the canvas back. For pasting places behind the battery, you will have to cut convenient small parts.

By the way, do not forget that when pasting the walls of the room with new wallpaper, you can show your imagination. Moreover, we can talk about experiments with both color and forms. will definitely make your home completely unique.

AT last years more and more in the assortment of markets, building materials stores and the Internet, you can find meter-long wallpapers on the shelves. They differ from wallpapers of standard sizes by almost two times, because their width is 106 cm. What are their main advantages over smaller counterparts, and how to make an unmistakable choice? How to glue non-woven meter wallpaper? What is the technology for gluing such a finishing material? After all, for so long we have used standard 50 cm widths for our living quarters. We will try to answer these questions.

To stick all types of wallpaper on a non-woven backing, prepare an approximately similar set of tools and materials:

How to glue non-woven meter-long wallpaper - Sequence of work

The very process of sticking meter-long wallpapers differs little from pasting ordinary ones, but still there are some nuances. Let's consider each in more detail:

Preliminary preparations

We remove the finish and clean the roughness and residues in the form of paper, newspapers and other unnecessary debris. The entire preparatory part can be divided into the following steps:

  1. Unscrew the covers at the sockets and switches, while we strongly advise you to turn off the electricity in the apartment for a while. Seal the holes and door frames with masking tape, which can be easily removed upon completion of the repair.
  2. Remove all hooks, screws, nails and dowels from the walls.
  3. Completely clean the old finish, carefully so that no traces of the former decor remain.
  4. Clear the room of debris and once again carefully inspect the room.

One of the advantages of non-woven wallpaper is the fact that they are not afraid of shallow relief irregularities, chips and scratches. Moreover, if the working cleaned side is a little rough, then this will be more of a plus and will make it easier for you to work with them.

Primer

Aligned clean plastered surfaces must first be coated with a primer, which will process and close multiple little noticeable pores. Its use will significantly save glue consumption in the future, in addition, it will not be unnecessarily absorbed into the plaster, which also guarantees stable gluing of the canvas.

After applying the primer solution, all dust is finally removed from the walls. Keep in mind that if the glue is applied to untreated walls, then some of it will be absorbed very quickly, and the consumption will increase significantly, and there may simply not be enough glue. Wait until the primer dries completely, then you can start gluing the wallpaper.

markup

Taking into account that these are non-woven meter-long wallpapers, it is important to consider that they have to be glued to the joint. The width of the roll is 106 cm and it is supposed to retreat in each direction from the corner by one meter. As experts advise, it is more correct to start pasting from the window, moving sequentially into the room. For the first sheet, do the following:

  • align exactly vertically using a plumb line;
  • draw a clear line with a pencil, use a construction ruler or level.

Preparation of the adhesive solution

When buying glue, pay attention to what type of wallpaper it is intended for, in this case it is necessary for. The method of preparing the solution itself is described in detail on the packaging, as well as manufacturers often accompany the description with visual pictures. Even an amateur can cope with this, because there is nothing complicated here. You need to pour water into a previously prepared container, and slowly pour the dry mixture, while stirring with a stick or other improvised materials. The main thing is not to stop stirring until the glue is completely dissolved, otherwise lumps will form. Then you have to wait no more than 10-20 minutes and the glue is ready.

Wallpaper cutting

We cover the floor with plastic wrap, now you can roll the roll face down. If you have a pattern on the wallpaper, then you have to adjust it when you cut the panels. Add to the desired length 10 cm at the top and bottom, for a margin.

We start pasting

Having successfully completed all the preparatory steps, you can proceed to the final stage - directly to gluing. Before applying the glue, it will have to be mixed again. Then we immediately proceed to the application of the adhesive layer. For lighter and faster coverage, use a special roller or a wide, long-haired brush. The technology of gluing non-woven wallpaper is such that there is no need to smear the strips themselves, it is enough to smear only the desired part of the wall. No need to apply glue to large sections of the wall, try to stick to the width of the wallpaper sheet plus 5 cm in reserve.

If necessary, correct the strip, align it along the edge, smooth out all the air “bubbles” with a plastic spatula for leveling the wallpaper or a special roller. Swipe them in the direction from top to bottom, as well as on the sides of the middle of the canvas. Remove excess glue that has come out with a small sponge or a clean cloth, do not rub, but gently blot. Continue to glue the remaining prepared strips in sequence. This should be done side by side. If your wallpaper has a pattern, then try to carefully combine it with the adjacent sheet. Due to the large width of the roll, the process of transforming the room is much faster. Try to complete this stage soundly and conscientiously, taking into account that these are not standard wallpapers.

After gluing the panel and its complete adhesion, we remove the excess (left in reserve) of the wallpaper using a sharp construction knife prepared in advance and a plastic spatula. Try to press the edge as tightly as possible for a smooth cut.

Due to the fact that meter-long wallpapers are noticeably larger in width than standard ones, we recommend that you do the pasting together. Find an assistant for yourself - it is incomparably easier to work with him, and the result will not be long in coming.

It is recommended to close the windows interior doors and other sources of drafts. It is necessary to close the ventilation, technical hatches. It is allowed to open windows only after the glue dries to 100%, it may take from one to three days to wait.

The basic principle of gluing non-woven wallpaper in the corners is as follows. The strip should be glued so that a small overlap on the adjacent wall is obtained. An impeccable appearance is an overlap of no more than two centimeters. Then glue on the other side of the corner with a slight overlap. After the remaining "tail" is cut off with a knife, adhering only to the vertical angle (along inside corner).

Pros and cons

Before you go to the store and choose a meter-long wallpaper, it is advisable to familiarize yourself with their advantages and disadvantages. We believe that immediately after a careful study of all aspects of gluing, you will have a more or less clear picture regarding the choice in favor of one or another type.

pros

  • There are few joints on the walls and they are almost invisible.
  • Reduced time for all work. After all, it is easier to measure and stick 10 strips than twice as many.
  • Cost savings, because the price of a roll of large wide wallpaper, at least a little, but after all, is lower than two rolls of a standard size.

Minuses

  • The difficulty of fitting the next strip to the previous, already glued canvas.
  • It is difficult to cope with pasting on your own.

We offer you to watch a special video lesson, for a more visual example.

How to glue non-woven meter wallpaper video:

This coating, as you understand, has a number of important positive qualities. We hope that after reading our article, you have a clearer idea of \u200b\u200bhow to correctly glue meter-long wallpapers. We wish you successful repair and let the result please you!

Wallpaper on a non-woven base is not uncommon today, you will not surprise anyone with them. But wide canvases for Russians are still a curiosity. Meter wallpaper made of non-woven fabric or based on it is produced by European manufacturers, in Russia they are limited standard size roll - 53 cm. By the way, meter wallpapers are called conditionally, their real width can be different - from 90 to 140 cm. The material, like others, has a number of pros and cons. You need to familiarize yourself with the features before buying wide wallpapers.

Advantages and disadvantages of wide canvases

Here we will consider the characteristics of not only those coatings that consist entirely of non-woven fabric, but also non-woven vinyl. These materials are very similar in performance, they are also mounted in the same ways.

So, wide wallpapers are convenient because:

  • they form fewer joints - due to their large size, more voluminous patterns are placed on the canvases, it becomes easier to pick up and combine pattern fragments, the canvases after installation are one whole - the seams between the stripes are almost invisible.
  • Installation is faster - instead of two standard strips, you need to cut, apply, level and cut only one.
  • Material costs are less - the price of a meter roll is less than the cost of two standard ones from the same manufacturer.

All the shortcomings of meter-long canvases are associated with the features of their installation:

  • they are difficult to glue alone, especially on the ceiling. But, if you couldn’t find a partner, you can still stick meter-long wallpapers on your own, you just need to be patient.
  • It is more difficult to buy the optimal amount of material - there is a risk that a few centimeters of coverage will not be enough, or, conversely, almost a whole roll will remain. In this regard, it is easier with narrow canvases - if there are surpluses, there will be few of them.
  • small room it is very problematic to paste over with wide strips, they often have to be cut and cut (in the corners, on the slopes).
  • It is permissible to use a non-standard width in rooms with slight deviations in dimensions - if the ceiling, walls or corners are very curved, it will not be easy to join meter-long canvases without distortions.

Summing up the above, we can conclude: it is optimal to glue wide wallpapers in large rooms with a minimum of additional elements (such as radiators, windows, doors, niches and arches) and with even walls. Drywalled rooms are ideal - all the corners are right there, and the surfaces are even.

Video on how to glue meter-long wallpaper together:

Installation of non-woven wallpaper on the ceiling

With the advent of non-woven finishes, the fashion for wallpapering ceilings has returned. This happened due to the versatility of the material:

  • it has a different surface (corrugated, smooth, plain or patterned);
  • durable;
  • easy to clean with a vacuum cleaner and a damp cloth;
  • suitable for dyeing.

It is necessary to glue wide wallpaper on a non-woven base on the ceiling in the following sequence:

  1. Surface preparation - remove lighting, insulate the wires, clean the ceiling from the remnants of the old coating, putty and prime it.
  2. If it is provided for by the repair plan, stick sockets, skirting boards and borders on the ceiling.
  3. From a wall with a window at several points, measure a distance equal to the width of the roll. Connect the dots with a line.
  4. Lubricate the resulting strip with glue.
  5. From the roll, cut the canvas a little longer than the width of the room.
  6. Attach the strip to the ceiling, aligning the edge with the corner or border, while you also need to focus on the drawn strip.
  7. Press the meter-long wallpaper with a roller, expelling air and excess glue in the direction from the center of the strip to the edges.
  8. Butt-glue the following strips.

It is quite difficult to stick heavy non-woven wallpaper on the ceiling. To make them more firmly fixed, the glue must be made thicker than indicated in the instructions. A thick composition is also easier to apply to the ceiling, it will not drain and drip.

The ceiling is often painted, it is important to remember that this can only be done on a dry surface. After wallpapering, at least 3 days must pass before painting.

The trick with which wide wallpapers can be glued to the ceiling alone is shown in the video:

Instructions for installing meter wallpaper on the walls

In principle, working with wide canvases is no different from gluing standard wallpaper.

All actions are performed in the same sequence:

  1. Sockets and switches are removed from the walls, the ends of the wires are insulated.
  2. Remove various fasteners (nails, brackets, self-tapping screws, dowels).
  3. They clean the walls of the old coating (the paint is washed off, the wallpaper is moistened with water and cleaned with a spatula).
  4. Irregularities are puttied and the dried putty is rubbed with fine-grained sandpaper. How to properly prepare a room for pasting, you can additionally look at the video:
  5. Cover the walls with one or two layers of deep penetration soil. This must be done, especially on moisture-intensive materials (concrete, drywall, wood). The primer clogs the pores of the base, thereby preventing the penetration of glue into them. The adhesion of wallpaper and walls becomes an order of magnitude higher.
  6. After the walls are completely dry, they move on to wallpapering. Glue for non-woven fabrics is dissolved in water, do it according to the instructions on the packaging of the glue.
  7. Determine the starting point from which meter-long non-woven wallpaper will be glued. Experts recommend starting from the corner - you need to retreat 104-105 cm from it (with a roll width of 106 cm) and draw a straight vertical line.
  8. Lubricate the wall with glue.
  9. Cut off the first strip 5-10 cm longer than the height of the walls.
  10. Align the top edge of the wallpaper with the line of intersection of the ceiling and the wall, while aligning the vertical edge of the canvas with the line drawn on the wall.
  11. Press the canvas in the center and level it with movements in the form of a “herringbone” - from the center to the sides.
  12. Use a roller or spatula to expel excess air from under the wallpaper.
  13. Trim excess wallpaper from top and bottom with a sharp knife.
  14. Continue gluing solid wide strips to the next corner.
  15. You can’t glue a whole strip into a corner - it can lead and wrinkle. From the extreme strip, the tape measure is turned around the corner by 1.5-2 cm, this size is fixed.
  16. A piece is cut from the new strip to the width of the resulting size.
  17. A cut off strip is applied to the wall smeared with glue, aligning it with the edge of the previous strip.
  18. If the second segment of the same strip has a width of more than 20-30 cm, it is used for gluing an adjacent wall. If too narrow a strip remains, it is better to cut off a new one from the roll.
  19. On the adjacent wall, a vertical is drawn, stepping back from the corner the width of the next strip of wallpaper.
  20. Wallpaper is applied to the wall smeared with glue, combining their edge with the outlined strip.
  21. In the middle of the resulting overlap in the corner, a vertical incision is made. Excess wallpaper is removed, and the strips are glued end-to-end. The seam should be invisible.
  22. Continue to work in the same sequence.

Important ! If the wide wallpaper is not too thick and the owner will not paint it, overlapping corners are allowed.

In this case, it will not be necessary to cut through the thickening, it is enough to roll the overlap with a roller well enough.

As you can see, there is nothing complicated in the process. More information can be found in the video:

Still, it is better to work together - one person stands on a stepladder and combines the canvas with the ceiling line, and the second equalizes the wallpaper vertically.

Pasting difficult areas

Gluing wallpaper on even walls is quite simple, it is a little more difficult to glue the corners with high quality. But the most tricky places are the areas behind the batteries, external corners and various decorative elements.

  • heating pipes are different, depending on this, they decide on the method of gluing the walls behind them. In any case, this work is not easy to do, and with a meter-wide wallpaper it is doubly difficult. You can cut the canvas into small fragments and stick them individually. But this method is only suitable for plain wallpaper, it will not work to fold the pattern in this way. An easier way, accessible even to a beginner, is to paint the space behind the battery to match the wallpaper. They do this with a brush on a long curved handle, it is better to take acrylic paint.
  • Wallpaper can be glued to external corners in several ways, they do not differ from the options for processing internal corners. This is the overlap method and the undercut method. In any case, you need to overlap not in the center of the corner, but 3-4 cm from it.
  • If ceiling cornices or borders are provided, it is better to fix them before gluing the wallpaper. So the material consumption will decrease (no need to leave an upper allowance), and it will be easier to trim the wallpaper.
  • Floor plinths, on the contrary, are best removed. They will subsequently hide unevenly cut or too short edges.

Professional tips for pasting difficult areas are shown in the video:

The installation process of wide non-woven wallpaper is not much different from working with standard width material. And small nuances and tips from experienced craftsmen are easy to find in a photo or video.

Perhaps every person at least once in his life faced with such a phenomenon as repair.

AT recent times in construction stores there is simply a huge selection of wide wallpapers.

At the same time, many people have the question of how to glue meter-long wallpapers correctly and efficiently.

It is the meter coverage that is very popular with users due to a number of advantages.

Advantages of meter wallpaper:

  • Pasting the walls with meter tapestries takes much less time;
  • Appearance is improved due to fewer joints;
  • Reduced material consumption when selecting a pattern;
  • The price of a meter roll is less than two half a meter;
  • If the wallpaper has a non-woven base, then the walls can not be impregnated with glue, which also saves time.

It is also fair to point out the disadvantages of such a choice.

Cons of meter wallpaper:

This type of coating is necessary to have perfect walls. To do this, you will have to level them and putty.

Even the slightest unevenness can distort the pattern, and the canvas will lie crooked.

There is a risk of material overrun in rooms with non-standard sizes. The fact is that the length may not be enough, and it will be necessary to take a whole roll.

Paper meter wallpapers are extremely difficult to find.

It will be very difficult to paste over the room alone. For this work, you will need an assistant.

It is worth saying that the choice of meter rolls is much less than 53 cm. So where to start gluing meter-long canvases?

Room preparation

It is better to turn off the electricity in an apartment or house for a while.

From sockets and switches, you need to remove the top covers and seal them with tape. The room is ventilated and wet cleaning is carried out.

Doors should also be closed during operation. For more accurate work, the floor can be covered with paper or film.

Prepare everything in advance necessary tools so as not to be distracted by their search later.

Working with walls

Before starting work, it is necessary to carefully prepare the surface. To do this, remove all old coatings. Then it is recommended to process the walls with sandpaper.

The next step will be the putty of the cracks.

In order for the glue to hold better, you need to additionally process it.

In order for the walls to dry evenly, you need to monitor the temperature in the room and avoid drafts.

It is worth noting that for the best result and durability of the work, the adhesive must be ideally suited for the selected type of coating.

Meter tapestries

Measure the height of the walls from floor to ceiling. It is recommended to add 5-8 cm to the height of the wall.

Cut strips to desired length. Measure a meter from the corner and put a plumb line.

Dilute the adhesive and apply it to the wall. Instructions are usually found on the packaging and each type of glue has its own.

Cover the canvas with glue and stick on the wall. In this case, one side is aligned with a plumb line, and the other is wrapped at an angle. Flatten the canvas with a roller.

Remove excess wallpaper with a knife and spatula.

Wide webs butt

Such wallpapers are quite easy to glue end-to-end. But at the same time it is very important that the walls are perfectly even.

Therefore, the stage of leveling the walls must be taken with all responsibility.

As soon as the first canvas lay down on the wall and the edges are aligned with a plumb line, then you can start gluing the next one. The edges of the canvas should lie strictly butt to the previous one.

It is important to note that you should try to achieve an even joint immediately and not stretch the canvas. Otherwise, after it dries, the joint will still disperse.

Do not forget that the excess coating on the wall must be removed with a sharp knife only after complete drying, otherwise accuracy is not guaranteed.

Pasting the corners

It happens that the door to the wall turns out to be much larger, then you need to cut it to the recommended size with a sharp knife.

If the wallpaper has a pattern to be selected, then the canvases are glued strictly from the corner of the room, thus forming an overlap of those same 3 centimeters.

If the wallpaper has a monotonous color, then you can make a cut in the corner, while removing excess material and forming an even joint.

Hard to reach places

In every house or apartment there are places where gluing becomes a real problem, especially with wide rolls. Masters recommend cutting the canvas into smaller pieces for gluing inconvenient places.

It is very important to pay attention to the selection of the pattern, if any. It is worth noting that this is quite hard work.

It is good if the canvases can be moved along the surface of the wall without damaging them.

For such areas of the room, glue that does not dry very quickly is ideal. This will allow you to correct the work in the process of gluing.

The first advice of experts when choosing such tapestries is to buy them in specialized stores with stands.

The fact is that in rolls they look a little different than on finished surface. This can come as an unpleasant surprise for someone doing the renovation.

You can ask the sellers if there are borders from the same series. It would be great if the selected materials have a document confirming the quality of the goods.

So, given all of the above, we can conclude that if you responsibly treat the repair that has begun, then the question of how to properly glue meter-long wallpapers will not become a problem for you.

You just need to carefully study the topic and consult with experienced craftsmen.

If everything is done correctly, then the meter-long wallpaper will delight the eye of the owner of the apartment with its beauty for a long time.

Thanks to them, you can realize any design solutions, which allows the designer to trust his taste and imagination.
